Simon Cowell needs to ditch his electric bike. Unbelievably, the America’s Got Talent producer and judge had his second accident while riding an electric bike. This time he broke his arm.
The Sun reports that according to sources Simon “…is lucky to be alive after he was propelled over the handlebars and onto the road at 20mph — while not wearing a helmet.”
Passers-by helped “blood-soaked” Simon
Sources report that passers-by dashed to help the “blood soaked” star before paramedics arrived. Reportedly the newly-engaged mogul was rushed to the hospital with a suspected concussion and a broken arm.
The crash happened near his home on Thursday (Jan 27) in West London and comes 18 months after he broke his back after falling off an electric bike in Los Angeles. The source told Sun “Simon is lucky to be alive.”
“He was pedalling along, with his electric motor on, when the wheels suddenly went from under him after hitting a wet patch. He slipped and went flying over the handlebars into the middle of the road.”
According to Sun sources, “Three kindly passers-by jumped into action, and stopped the traffic so he wouldn’t be run over. After being ambulanced to hospital and given an X-ray, Simon was eventually released that evening — his arm in a yellow cast all the way up to the shoulder — and told to rest.”
Simon won’t give up e-bikes, vows to start wearing a helmet
Simon is not done with bikes: “Despite this being his second great escape, Simon insists he’s not ditching the bike — but he will start wearing a helmet.”
His first bike accident in 2020 resulted in a broken back that needed a five hour surgery with infusions and rods, in addition to physical therapy. Simon revealed that the accident nearly paralyzed him. He missed all the live shows that season, including the finale.
At the time Sun sources reported, “He landed on his back when he fell from the bike. The injuries are bad but he’s also been told he was lucky.” Simon fell directly on his back on concrete in the courtyard of his Malibu house and broke 3 vertebrae. A source told the tabloid: “He could have been looking at a life in a wheelchair.”
Simon reportedly just finished taping Britains Got Talent auditions. Also, he completed taping America’s Got Talent: Extreme in January. Ironically, one of the show’s daredevils nearly died rehearsing his stunt, throwing the production into disarray. The series will air for 4 weeks on NBC beginning February 21.
