America’s Got Talent 2026 Premiere Recap and Live Blog

America’s Got Talent kicks off tonight (june 2) as Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara and the returning Mel B. take their seats on the panel for the talent show’s 21st season. Terry Crews once again serves as host.

This season brings a new twist later on in the Judging process: A new round of competition called the Judges’ Callbacks round which will give Acts another golden opportunity to make it all the way to the Season 21 finals.

The Golden Buzzers are back, of course. All the panelists and Terry can award two buzzers to acts they feel should advance straight to the live shows. That is 10 buzzers total.

Aggy – Interpretive Dance

Aggy is a 42 year old with a family and is originally from Nigeria. He’s a software engineer. The judges are confused by him. What does he do? He takes his shoes off…and performs a bunch of weird dance moves while he giggles. That’s the act. It’s kind of a cross between poetry and dance. Can’t believe he has not been buzzed off because that was weird.

The judges are not feeling it. Except Simon who invites him to come back with music. Really? 4 nos.

Lai Noelle – Singer – Simon’s first Golden Buzzer

Lai is a 14 year old singer from Texas. She looks even younger than that, all though she’s poised on stage. Terry brings her a bottle of water on stage. Simon has that beatific look on his face as she warbles a tune with an angelic voice. Her talent is mature for her age, displaying a unique contralto tone. She’ll be incredible in a few years (Kids don’t belong on these shows. Just sayin’). Her speaking voice is a high pitched squeak. What a contrast!

Simon stands up and hits his golden buzzer. The confetti falls! Sofia wanted to do it too, but Simon beat her to it. She big mad. Lai leaves the stage early. The floor person had to run out and get her back! She’s very cute.

Tyrone and Margo – Danger Act

Married couple perform the tried and true danger act which featured Tyrone throwing knives at Margo. Except she is NOT standing still. She moves from side to side as he throws. Yikes. Oh cool. She gets to maybe kill her husband. Equal opportunity as she shoots arrows at balloons and an apple positioned close to his body. Shite could definitely go very wrong here.

Everyone is on their feet…except for Howie. Two years ago Tyrone his Margo in the eye on stage. She’s almost blind in the eye he hit. YIKES YIKES YIKES. Simon calls them “really good.” Mel was “quite terrified.” Howie believes Margo could be a marvel superstar. – 4 yeses

Nolan Ross Palmer – Fire Eater

Sofia kicks off asking a bunch of suggestive questions. We still have no idea what he does. He eats hot dogs right out of a flame. Simon buzzes him. Sofia warns of major acid reflux – 4 nos

Josh Sherman – Joke act

The 28 year old works as a musician in Las Vegas. Except NOT a trumpet player? He starts playing vegetables. Everyone buzzes him. He claimed to have attended Berklee College of music? They give him a second chance, but he continues to play food. It’s very weird. – 4 nos

Acro Crew – Dog and Dance act – Terry’s 1st Golden Buzzer

The all-female group is from Canada. Their ages range from 7 – 21. The girls bust out the typical dance moves but then…wait for it…there is a dog that’s part of the act. More than one dog! VERY unexpected. Who can hate on cute doggies. While the girls perform acrobatic moves, the pooches jump around them. Who is gonna say no to that?

Sofia says dog and dance acts are her favorites. They blew Howie away. THEN Terry runs down to the judges table to hit one of his Golden Buzzers. I thought Sofia might do it! Howie goes backstage to greet his fellow Canadians.

Kev Adams – Comedian

Kev has worked as a comic in his native France. He claims he just learned English. He’s been watching English comics all his life, so he must at least understand some? He makes jokes about speaking English as a second language. He’s not funny ha ha necessarily, but there is something kind of endearing about his personality.

The judges loved that. He actually got funnier as the act went on. Howie is gushing over him. Sofia relates to a comic trying to be funny in an unfamiliar language. Simon calls him funny and fearless – 4 yeses

Aggy Returns

Aggy explains that he has never performed with music, but he’ll give it a shot. His music selections match the emotion he’s trying to portray. It’s better, but still not great. However, this time the audience responds enthusiastically. Points for playing the Eric Carmen version of All By Myself instead of the Celine cover. Aggy says keeping up with the music was tiring.

Sofia liked it better without the music. Howie agrees with Sofia. Mel B. says yes. Simon says yes. The audience begs Sofia to change her vote. But she refuses to do it. The audience boos – 2 nos 2 yeses

Luke Taleno – Rapper – Howie’s 1st Golden Buzzer

Luke is a returnee from last year. Sort of. He was born in Cuba. His parents came to America when he was very small. He was in the audience for his friend, Jordan Blue last season, who checks in via Facetime. He’s working as a full time musician these days. He tells the judges he’s a cancer survivor. At 13, he had Leukemia. In the hospital he began writing songs.

He performs an original song, “Seat to Stage” which tells the story of how he got here. He mixes Spanish into his flow. He’s not bad. He’s got dance moves too.

The audience goes crazy for him. “That’s how you take your moment,” says Simon. Sofia says he deserves to be on the stage. Mel B felt he was out of breath by the end of the song. Simon admires people who just did it. Mel adds that he has heart. Howie calls him authentic and then hits his Golden Buzzer.

KOSE 8ROCKS – Dance Crew

We get a short little glimpse of this dance group from Japan who receives 4 yeses.

Unitree – Robot Dancers

A guy takes the stage first, but then he’s joined by robots that dance with him. So I guess that’s cool. The robots are pretty good at the dance moves, including fancy flips. There must be an operator off stage with a computer running things, right?

Simon calls the act “brilliant.” Sofia feels it was like watching people dance. Each robot has an individual name. Mel is freaked out a little. She calls them perfect. 4 yeses

Community ATL Choir

Every member of the 6 person group is a transplant to Atlanta. The leader’s big brother chose to sing “Lovely Day” during a time when the world is so dark. OK. Turns out the group is a larger choir. They enter the stage from everywhere, including the audience. The performance is uplifting. A real crowd pleaser.

The audience loves it. Tears from the group. Mel calls it “everything.” Howie says, “It makes you smile…great escape.” Sofia calls it “perfection.” Simon calls them one of the best choirs they’ve had in years. – 4 yeses
