Survivor Season 48 Week 10 Recap

The episode begins with the castaways returning to camp. They’re all excited by Mr. Beast’s twist and the prize going up to $2 million. Aubry is glad Rick is making himself a target. Aubry says she’s been playing under the radar, but she is ready to be fearless. Jonathan says tribal council was terrible. His plan was to vote out Ozzy, but the plan was flipped upside down due to Mr. Beast’s twist. In addition, he lost his ally Stephenie. Jonathan feels like he and Joe are on the outs. He thinks he has an uphill battle to get to the end.

The next morning, Rick reads the details of the hidden immunity idol he received last night. The idol is good until there are seven players left in the game. Rick is very excited about the state of the game right now. Joe, however, is not happy. Joe thinks Rick acted in poor taste at tribal council. He says he attacked Stephenie last night and showed poor sportsmanship. Cirie says Joe lives on Hypocrisy Hill. Tiffany says she’s willing to deal with Joe since there are bigger fish to fry.

Cirie and Tiffany talk game. Tiffany points out how Ozzy and Rizo still have idols. In her confessional, Cirie recalls when she was eliminated from Game Changers just because everyone else had some kind of idol or advantage. She doesn’t want that to happen to her again. Cirie doesn’t want Ozzy or Rizo to be voted out, but she wants them to play their idols anyway. Cirie tells Tiffany that she could talk Ozzy into playing his idol, even if he doesn’t need to. Later, Ozzy joins their conversation and they tell him people are throwing out his name. Ozzy tells them he will play his idol, and Cirie says it won’t be a bad idea.

After we see Ozzy and Rick have a heart-to-heart talk about Ozzy’s dad, Rick and Emily talk game. Emily wants to flush out some idols, and Rick says he will use his idol to take someone else out of the game. Rick wants to vote out Joe or Cirie, and Emily is on board with targeting Cirie. Emily sees how much control Cirie has, and she wants to make a move against her.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. They must balance on a triangular platform out in the water. As the challenge progresses, they must move up the platform. If they touch the platform or fall, then they are eliminated from the challenge. The last person standing will win immunity. In addition, the winner will win an advantage that will be in play during tribal council. Jeff hints there will be a twist, but he does’t share any other details.

The challenge begins. Everyone survives the first round, so they all must step up higher on their platforms. Cirie touches her platform, so she’s the first one eliminated from the challenge. The rest of them last long enough to make it to the third round where they must stand on the top portion.

Aubry falls during the transition. Rick is the next to fall. The rest of them make it to the final round. They all must stand on one foot. They all start falling quickly one after another. Rizo falls, and then he’s followed by Ozzy, Joe, Emily, and Jonathan. Tiffany is the last to fall, and Jeff declares her the winner. However, the producers call for Jeff’s attention. Jeff is shown footage from the challenge. It’s revealed that Tiffany didn’t lift a foot in time by the time people started falling into the water. She was still standing on both feet while everyone else already lifted a foot. As a result, Tiffany is disqualified. That means Jonathan wins immunity!

Jeff then reveals the twist. They will be separated into two groups and go to individual tribal councils. Each group will vote one person out. Jonathan’s advantage is that he will attend both tribal councils and cast a vote at each one. After a random draw, they are separated into their groups. Tiffany, Emily, Cirie, and Rick are in one group. Aubry, Rizo, Ozzy, and Joe are in another group.

The groups must be separated during the scramble before tribal council, but Jonathan can go back and forth between groups. Jonathan talks to Cirie first. They talk about voting out Rick, but they want to split the votes since Rick has a hidden immunity idol. They agree Emily is the backup target, but Jonathan really wants Rick to be voted out tonight. Meanwhile, Emily believes she’s on the chopping block since she doesn’t have a good relationship with Jonathan. She thinks Jonathan will be calling the shots tonight. However, she thinks she can shift the votes on Rick and ask Rick to give her his idol. She shares this idea with everyone besides Rick.

Later, Emily talks to Rick. She admits the idea she is spreading around camp. However, this is part of a bigger plan. She says they can mislead everyone into thinking Rick will play his idol on Emily, but he still plays it on himself. In addition, she thinks she and Rick can be the two votes needed to send Cirie out of the game.

Tiffany and Jonathan talk game. Tiffany says Ozzy needs to go from the other group, and Jonathan is completely on board. Tiffany believes Ozzy is feeling very comfortable right now. Jonathan says he’s been waiting to take Ozzy out for a long time.

Meanwhile, Ozzy believes he is in a good spot with Joe and Rizo in his group. He says it’s an easy vote tonight with Aubry as the target. Ozzy feels so confident that he decides to share his entire game with Aubry. He admits he wants to go to the end of the game with Cirie, and he even tells Aubry about Cirie’s extra vote advantage. In his confessional,

Ozzy says he shared this information as a form of jury management. He thinks this will persuade Aubry to vote for him to win the game. Aubry is stunned by Ozzy’s hubris. She hasn’t even been voted out yet. After their conversation, Aubry shares this information with Rizo and Joe. Rizo is stunned to learn about this. In his confessional, Rizo says Ozzy made a stupid decision and should’ve kept his mouth shut. Aubry is pushing to blindside Ozzzy tonight. She tells Joe and Rizo that it’s now or never.

Jonathan and Tiffany talk to Cirie about voting out Ozzy, and she gives them her blessing. However, she actually doesn’t want Ozzy to go. She is just trying to hide how she’s close to Ozzy, but there’s nothing she can do to save him. Afterwards, Jonathan goes to the other group. He talks privately with Aubry, and they both agree they want Ozzy voted out tonight. Aubry also tells Jonathan what Ozzy told her, including Cirie’s extra vote advantage.

Later, Jonathan talks to Joe about voting out Ozzy. Joe thought Aubry was going home, but now he wonders if tonight is the night to make a move. Jonathan wonders if Rizo should be clued in, so he goes back and asks Cirie. Cirie says let Rizo know. In her confessional, Cirie hopes Rizo being clued in will allow Rizo to give Ozzy a heads up to play his hidden immunity idol. However, after Joe lets Rizo know the target is Ozzy, Rizo decides not to warn Ozzy. He knows Cirie would want him to try to save Ozzy, but Ozzy has put his foot in his mouth and questions if Ozzy staying is even good for Rizo’s game at this point.

Emily still tells Cirie that Rick will play his idol on Emily to make tribal council a spectacle. Emily hopes Cirie doesn’t figure out their true plan. In her confessional, Cirie says she can’t really predict whom Rick will play his idol on. If she feels uneasy, then she will use her extra vote advantage tonight.

It’s time for the first tribal council with Cirie, Tiffany, Rick, Emily, and Jonathan. Jonathan says he “got his steps in today” with all the back and forth he did between both groups this afternoon. Emily says she feels dread tonight. Last time she played she was voted out on Day 21, and today is Day 21. She says she fought for herself and did everything she could. She wasn’t passive today. Tiffany agrees that they all want to fight to stay in the game, but they can never know in this game.

Rick says it’s lucky he has a hidden immunity idol tonight. He says he will play it for himself tonight. Jonathan says he and Rick cannot work together in this game, but Rick disagrees. Rick says you never know who you may need in this game down the line. Emily hopes the five of them have come to a conclusion that doesn’t result in her going home tonight, but she knows the odds aren’t in her favor. Cirie says there were a lot of conversations tonight. Cirie says she, Emily, and Tiffany are vulnerable tonight since Jonathan and Rick have immunity. Afterwards, it’s time for the vote.

Before Jeff reads the votes, Rick plays his hidden immunity idol on himself.

The first vote is for…

Rick

It’s a tie vote. They must vote again.

Emily is the sixteenth person voted out and the sixth member of the jury.

It’s time for the second tribal council. Emily gets to join the jury and listen. Jeff asks about the vote, and Aubry hopes trust can be built. Rizo says they are doing a Final 5 vote twice. He says they have to take a leap of faith to trust someone. Ozzy says he almost played his idol earlier, but he’s glad he didn’t since it would’ve been a waste. He hopes he can trust his instincts and take a leap of faith again.

Ozzy says he used to play a solo game in his past seasons, but he tried to play a more social game this time around. Ozzy just hopes he’s here one more day. Jonathan says Ozzy inspired him to try out for Survivor. Jeff asks Aubry about her past seasons and her approach this time. Aubry says she used to be an anxious player, but she feels like she’s evolved. Afterwards, it’s time for the vote.

We see Aubry and Ozzy vote for each other, but who will be voted out tonight?

Before Jeff reads the votes, Ozzy chooses not to play his hidden immunity idol.

Jeff reads the votes. The first vote is for…

 Aubry

Ozzy is the seventeenth person voted out and the seventh member of the jury. He is blindsided, asking why. He is visibly crestfallen telling them how painful this is and how much he trusted them before Jeff snuffs his torch.

And that wraps up tonight’s episode of Survivor. Thanks for reading, and come back next week for another live recap.
