Kris Allen has been dropping a single a month. For September he released the soulful “Different Bridges, Same River,” which is basically a plea for understanding in these fractured times.

“I really love this song,” the American Idol season 8 winner wrote on social media. “I love music. I feel very blessed that I get to make it. That there’s people that actually listen to it. And I can’t wait for you to listen to this one.”

“The water’s deep on both sides//we need each other if we want to get by//The water’s deep on both sides//But we don’t seem to mind//Why are we building different bridges to cross the same river?” the lyrics go.

In addition, the background vocals are from none other than season 6 alum, the divine Melinda Doolittle. “Get. This. Song. Now.” Melinda stated on Twitter. “Love me some @KrisAllen
and was so honored to sing a bit on it!”

In May, Kris released the hopeful song “Don’t Stop Dancing” inspired by his 5 year old daughter Rosie. Next, the singer released the celebratory “Hallelujah for Now.” When he released it in June, Kris wrote, “Thanks to everyone that’s listened to ‘Hallelujah! For Now’. Really excited that this one is finally out in the world.” And then in July, Kris dedicated “Safe Harbor” which came with a beautiful animated video, to his son Oliver, who just turned 8.

Next, Kris is scheduled to head to Europe this fall with Season 7 winner, David Cook to make up for tour dates missed last year due to COVID. However, after the EU recently closed off travel from the US due to increasing COVID cases, the duo could be forced to cancel the tour again!

However, in November, Kris kicks off a solo tour which is probably a better bet to stay scheduled. Check out the schedule HERE.
