Congratulations to Fritz Hager. He left American Idol season 20 in the Top 5, just missing competing in the Grand Finale. But he did eventually receive a consolation prize.
The singer’s fans rallied to vote for him in the Live With Kelly and Ryan Encore contest. Fans had two days to vote for a Top 10 contestant, outside of the Top 2, to appear on Live with Kelly and Ryan this week. Fritz won the contest, which means he will perform his original single “Hearts Align” on Live this Friday (May 27).
Live with Kelly and Ryan has scheduled a week full of American Idol season 20 performances. Noah Thompson sat for an interview and performed his chart topping single, “One Day Tonight” on Monday (May 23), the morning after voters crowned him the new American Idol. Runner-up HunterGirl will perform her single “Red Bird” on Live Thursday May 26.
Meanwhile, Fritz thanks his fans for voting for him. “We did it!” he wrote on Instagram. “I’ll be heading to NY to perform my single “Hearts Align” on @livekellyandryan this Friday! Thanks so much to everyone that voted, so pumped to be able to perform this song for you guys!
Apparently, the voting mechanism had no limit and fans could vote vote vote as much as they liked. Good job Fritz fans getting your boy through!
After performing on Live with Kelly and Ryan in New York City, Fritz with need to rush right back to Tyler, TX where his friends and family are set to celebrate their horo at a hometown concert later that night. Third place finisher, Leah Marlene headed home from Los Angeles on Tuesday, but is unfortunately stuck at an airport in Texas right now due to bad weather.
