The Cheer Athletics Wildcats don’t need an audience to pump up the volume. The squad performs in front of judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara and her Modern Family pal Eric Stonestreet with energy to spare.
The Plano, Texas act isn’t affiliated with an athletic team. “We’re more like a club,” one of the members explains. “We cheer at a gym, practice there, and then we go compete against other teams that are similar.”

The members, who range in ages from 13 t0 29, perform amazing tumbles, with plenty of tossing. At one point the front line gets down on one knee, which may prove to be a little controversial. Also, in one trick, it looks as if a young woman is deliberately falling head first onto the ground. But of course the move is just part of the group’s clever choreography.
America’s Got Talent auditions continue, now in an empty auditorium due to a mid-March coronavirus production halt. Eric Stonestreet has stepped in for an ailing Heidi Klum, who won’t return to the panel until the Judge Cuts. AGT airs Tuesday on NBC at 8 pm ET/PT.
