The Critics Choice Association (CCA) and nonfiction producers’ organization NPACT have unveiled the winners for the second annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards, which recognize excellence in nonfiction, unscripted and reality programming across broadcast, cable and streaming platforms.
The Voice WINS Best Competition Series Talent/Variety
Congratulations to The Voice for winning in the Competition Series: Talent/Variety category. The NBC singing show prevailed over American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, La Voz and Songland.
Critics Choice Real Awards: Masked Singer, America’s Got Talent Snubbed
The Voice executive producer, Audrey Morrissey thanked Critics Choice on behalf of of the entire staff, crew and the coaches.
Survivor Host Jeff Probst Honored with Impact Award
Survivor lost to Rupaul’s Drag Race in the Competition Series category, but host and executive producer Jeff Probst received this year’s Critics Choice Real TV Impact Award for his ongoing contributions to the unscripted television industry.
Probst also lost Best Host to Jeopardy’s Alex Trebek, but he is a four-time Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Reality Host. This year marked the 20th anniversary of “Survivor” and its 40th season.
