The Voice 28 Knockouts: YOSHIHANAA Nails Her Performance, Earning Final Mic Drop

The Voice Season 28 Knockouts wrapped up on Monday night, and it’s crazy to think that this season is already almost over with only 3 weeks remaining. Monday’s Knockouts (Nov 24) may have been the strongest of the entire season with a final showdown resulting in the last mic drop with both singers bringing it!

The singer who earned the mic drop button from Snoop Dogg was powerhouse R&B vocalist, 36-year-old YOSHIHANAA from Sanford, Florida. For her song, she chose “You’re All I Need to Get By” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. She related to the song as she had to lean on the support of her family and her kids after her divorce. She was a bit nervous about the emotion that the song brought, but Zac Brown, the advisor, explained that emotion shows that the artist is real. Snoop liked how easy she let it come to her on the repetition of “by.” Zac suggested that she pull off the mic a bit when she is ad libbing due to the amount of power she has, and then bringing it back in for the lyric.

YOSHIHANAA started with smooth runs that were chill inducing. Her tone sounded very unique on the song. It comes so easy for her, and she truly hit her stride in the chorus. The ad libbing she added made the song completely her own as it helped the song work as a solo performance. She hit a few insane notes. This is far and away the best Knockout of the season, and she is in it to win it.

Her opponent Lauren Anderson also nailed her song which was “Try” by P!NK. YOSHIHANAA is probably the stronger technical vocalist, but Lauren really brought the angst and emotion to her performance. She honestly deserved to move on too, so it’s heartbreaking that there are no steals or saves this season.

“The range from the first note to the last note is crazy”

Niall Horan was in awe of YOSHIHANAA saying, “The range from the first note to the last note is crazy.” Reba McEntire told her, “I wasn’t expecting what you did.” Michael Bublé felt that both singers deserved to advance, and no decision that Snoop makes will be right or wrong. “You made me a believer, so thank you for performing with all your heart.” Snoop said to YOSHIHANAA. He chose her as the winner of the Knockout, and immediately hit his Mic Drop button, giving her a chance to compete in the vote to perform at the Rose Parade.

Another singer who stood out Monday night was Team Niall’s Kirbi who had her strongest performance to date with “Hard Fought Hallelujah.” She also advanced after bringing angelic powerhouse vocals to The Voice stage. The Playoffs are going to be tight competition with only 1 singer advancing per team for sure, and then the other 2 spots being voted on. Snoop should choose YOSHIHANAA as she would be a well deserving finalist.
