Tori Kelly experienced a huge health scare over the summer and thankfully came out the other side of it. The American Idol alum visited The Jennifer Hudson Show (Oct 9) where she opened up about the frightening experience.

“That was definitely a scary few days,” she told fellow Idol alum Jennifer Hudson. “I actually ended up collapsing one night, and they found out that I had blood clots. And it was really crazy and scary.”

After collapsing in a restaurant, her friends rushed her to a hospital emergency room.

“I feel amazing, they’re still monitoring me…but I feel great”

“My family was definitely there for me,” she continued. “I had a peace throughout most of it, but I was just kind of confused, and wondering what was going on. I thankfully had some amazing doctors who were able to just take care of everything and get me healthy. And it seems like it’s a manageable thing now. I feel amazing, they’re still monitoring me and everything like that, but I feel great.”

“I’m back to singing, and back to doing my thing,” she shared. “I feel really good, I’m really grateful.” The unexpected health incident happened just a few days before her self-titled EP was set to come out.

“I had my music scheduled to come out that same week,” Tori recalled. “And I kind of had the option, ‘Okay, do I want to push it back even more?’ And I decided, ‘You know what I’m still going to put out this music, even though I can’t promote it the way that I usually would. I really want to still give my fans the opportunity to just listen to this music.’ Because this music is just so happy and fun, and I wanted them to be able to just have that.'”

By September, Tori was feeling so good, she embarked on a short tour she dubbed “The Take Control Tour” playing dates in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago and more.
