The Amazing Race 28 Recap Week 4 Live Blog

A new episode of The Amazing Race airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

Brodie and Kurt came in first place in the last leg of the race, so they are the first to depart. They learn their new destination is Geneva, Switzerland. Before they depart for the airport, we learn about a possible showmance between Blair and Brodie. They have a crush on one another, but they haven’t met yet since Brodie and Kurt have been at the front and Scott and Blair have been behind the pack so far. However, all the teams will be on the same flight to Geneva. We also hear from some other teams too. Tyler and Korey credit their success on the race so far to being best friends for eight years. Dana is not looking forward to going to Geneva since she is not a fan of cold, but Cole and Sheri are excited since they have never seen snow. The teams arrive at the airport, and Blair and Brodie meet for the first time. Some teams are grinning as they see the two talk to one another, and Tyler and Korey dub them #Blodie.

All the teams board the same flight and land at Geneva at the same time. They have to go to a chocolate shop that will have their next clue. However, the shop doesn’t open until 10:00am the next morning. For the night, the teams have been provided sleeping bags and can sleep in a cellar. Tyler and Korey say that true love is forming as Blair and Brodie are seen snuggling together in their sleeping bags.

Burnie and Ashley are the first to get their clue. They learn they have a Detour to do. Work Bench requires teams to assemble a Swiss army knife. Bench Work requires teams to determine how many people can sit on a bench that’s been dubbed the longest wooden bench in the world. The correct answer is between 190 – 197. Burnie and Ashley choose Bench Work, and the other teams choose their Detours too. The only teams to choose the Swiss army knife Detour are Tyler and Korey, Zach and Rachel, Scott and Blair, and Jessica and Brittany. The other teams choose the bench task.

Burnie and Ashley begin the Bench Work Detour. They each have to hold a newspaper in their hand as they make their way through the bench sitting down one after another. It’s somewhat awkward as they have to ask people already sitting on the bench to get up for a moment as they go down the bench. Burnie and Ashley annoy two guys who were in the middle of a chess match. Tyler and Korey and Zach and Rachel begin the Work Bench Detour as Brittany and Jessica and Sheri and Cole are lost.

Dana and Matt and Kurt and Brodie begin the Bench Work Detour too. Erin and Joslyn get lost on the way to the Bench Work Detour, but they eventually find it. Brittany and Jessica and Sheri and Cole are still lost. Brittany and Jessica originally planned to do the Work Bench Detour, but decide to switch and follow Sheri and Cole to the wooden bench Detour.

Burnie and Ashley believe they have completed the Detour, but they are incorrect as they guess 217. The correct answer is between 190 to 197. They must redo the task before they can guess another number.

Tyler and Korey, Zach and Rachel, and Scott and Blair are working on assembling their Swiss army knives. Zach and Rachel are the first to have theirs inspected, but they do not pass since theirs was too wobbly. Meanwhile, Brodie and Kurt are the first team to pass the wooden bench Detour. They receive their next clue. They also tell Burnie and Ashley and Dana and Matt the correct answer before they leave. They must proceed to the Broken Chair (a monumental sculpture) to receive their next clue. They are followed by Burnie and Ashley, but Dana and Matt still need to finish redoing the wooden bench task.

Tyler and Korey are the first to pass the Swiss army knife Detour. They are currently in third place as they can make their way to the Broken Chair. Meanwhile, Brittany and Jessica and and Sheri and Cole finally find the Bench Work Detour and get started on the task. Sheri and Cole manage to get it right and are currently in fourth place. Dana and Matt finish the task too and are in fifth place, and they are followed by Erin and Joslyn. Brodie and Kurt, Burnie and Ashley, Sheri and Cole, and Dana and Matt get on the same bus to the Broken Chair.

Brittany and Jessica are struggling with the Bench Work Detour as Zach and Rachel and Scott and Blair pass the Bench Work Detour. While they redo the task, other teams are boarding trains on the way to the Roadblock. However, Brittany and Jessica finally do pass and can make their way to the Broken Chair too.

Tyler and Korey are the first team to arrive at the Roadblock. Korey chooses to do it, and learns he must identify specific flags outside the United Nations. He is given cards with pictures of flags on them, and he must put them in order in the way those specific flags are arranged outside the United Nations. Other teams arrive, with Burnie, Kurt, and Cole doing the Roadblock for their respective teams. Matt joins them later. Korey decided to pair up with Matt to help one another do the Roadblock. Burnie and Kurt help one another too with Cole asking for help from the two of them too. Zach and Rachel arrive afterwards, but Rachel gets no help from the guys as she begins the Roadblock.

Korey is the first to get the order of his flags inspected, but he is incorrect. Burnie, however, passes. He helps Kurt before he leaves with Ashley. They learn they must take a train to Charmonix, France. Kurt gives Cole the answer too before Brodie and Kurt and Sheri and Cole get their next clues and make their way to the train station. Meanwhile, Erin and Joslyn and Scott and Blair arrive. Joslyn and Blair do the Roadblock and they work together with Rachel. Brittany and Jessica finally arrive, and Jessica does the Roadblock. She notices the other teams helping each other out, but everyone ignores her. She bemoans the fact that no one wants to help the person in last place as she has to figure out how to do the task herself. She watches Korey and Matt pass the Roadblock and leave for the train station as the other girls continue to ignore her.

Brodie and Kurt, Burnie and Ashley, and Sheri and Cole board the same train as Blair, Joslyn, and Rachel finish the Roadblock. Jessica is the only person left working on the Roadblock as the other teams depart for the train station. As the other teams board the same train, Tyler and Korey make fun of Blair and Brodie as they are talking to their cameraman, which visibly annoys the other teams.

Jessica finally passes the Roadblock, and she and Brittany can make their way to the train station too. The teams must make two connections with include a stop at Martigny. At one point, Brittany and Jessica get a chance to catch up with some of the teams at a connecting stop. Unfortunately, they miss the train by seconds and must wait for another train. Later on, all the teams except Brittany and Jessica board the same train at the last connecting stop. They all realize it’s a footrace for first place.

The teams arrive at Charmonix, France and it’s a mad dash for first place. All the teams arrive at the Pit Stop simultaneously, but it is Brodie and Kurt who land on the mat first. They each win $3,000. All the teams are proud of themselves for finishing so close to one another and admit that all the teams this season are strong competitors.

Brittany and Jessica arrive later. They are the last team to check-in, and Phil gives them the bad news. Brittany and Jessica have been eliminated from the race. They are understandably disappointed to be eliminated from the race so early.
