America’s Got Talent 2025 Auditions 2 Recap Live Blog (Videos)
America’s Got Talent continues with Auditions 2 tonight (June 3) as Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara and the returning Mel B. take their seats on the panel for the talent show’s 20th season. Terry Crews once again serves as host
The Golden Buzzers are back, of course. All the panelists and Terry can award two buzzers each to acts they feel should advance straight to the live shows. That is 10 buzzers total.
Tani – Drone guy
Tani from Japan, is accompanied by a translator. His joke act involves a drone that he flies around the stage. Tani calls the drone “tricks” challenges and they consist of him manipulating the machine to do goofy stunts that barely work. It’s a pretty stupid and pointless act. Mel and Sofia both buzz him. But Simon finds him hilarious.
“It’s so funny and original,” says Simon. Howie loved it. “Your aim is way off brother,” Mel says about his drone aim. Sofia calls it “cute” but isn’t sure. However, in the end, Mel and Sofia say no, despite the crowd begging them to say yes. 2 nos 2 yeses
Citilimitz – Vocal trio
The trio are brothers, two are twins. They want to be one of the biggest groups in the world. One of the singers dedicates the audition to Mel. They are a throwback to vocal groups like Boyz II Men, the group they cover. Solid harmonies, but nothing out of the ordinary. A decent cover band.
Mel thought they were nervous. “I’m rooting for you. Well done.” One singer jokes he was so nervous before he took the stage, that he peed 8 times. Sofia also loved them. Simon thinks they have natural chemistry. “I like you.” – 4 yeses
Amanda Badertscher – Football tosser
Amanda is a middle school Phys Ed teacher. She’s never performed in front of an audience before. Her thing is throwing footballs at targets which consist of nets positioned in front of photos of Simon and Terry flying in football uniforms. She tosses the balls from behind the judges panel. Her aim is pretty great. It’s a parlor game, basically, not an act.
The last throw, from the back of the auditorium, was so dramatic, a commercial break served as a cliffhanger. Howie thinks she set a great example for girls. Terry, a former football player is VERY impressed. Sofia calls it spectacular. Simon calls it “really exciting.” – 4 yeses
Kid Clippers – Kids Dance Team
Kid Clippers are a kid dance team that perform at LA Clippers basketball games. Their dream is to create an act beyond the sports team.
They are a very cute hip hop dance group. Probably pretty fun at the games. The girl in the middle with the big red bow is obviously the star.
Sofia loved it. Howie calls it the best youth dance group ever. Mel loved the energy. She calls it “brilliant.” Simon loves their preparation and attitude. – 4 yeses
TT Boys – Acrobats
The duo are from Ethiopia. They’ve been doing their thing since they were 3 years old. The two blend hand and feet balancing with acrobatics.
The crowd goes crazy. The act includes a ton of tossing and spinning. Mostly one guy laying on a device while he tosses the other one around. It’s the kind of act that can go terribly wrong. The big finish takes place on the judges table. More spinning. If the dude falls, one of the judges could get hurt. But they don’t!
Simon says, “That was ***** incredible.” Mel yells, “That was off the chain!” Sofia admires the work they must have put in to make it so perfect. Howie calls it “jaw dropping brilliant.” Simon adds, “We’ve never seen anything like this.” – 4 yeses
Austin Brown – Singer
Austin lives in Nashville, but he’s originally from Georgia. He’s performed with an acapella group where he met his wife. Falling in love inspired him to chase his solo dreams.
He covers “When A Man Loves a Woman” boasting a HUGE soulful voice. He sings the entire song in his upper chest voice, including a key change. At times, he seems to be working hard at the outer reaches of his range. It might have been better in a lower key. But still, a good voice.
Sofia calls his voice “beautiful.” Mel calls it a “really great audition.” Howie thought it was good and heartfelt, but maybe not good enough for AGT. The crowd boos. He says No. Sofia and Mel say Yes. The crowd is on Austin’s side. Regardless, Simon says no. Hm. I smell a set up. This guy is gonna come back, maybe later in the show, maybe in another episode. The judges will see improvement. Then the music will swell and Simon and Howie will change their minds. UPDATE: The acapella group he sang in? Homefree, who WON another NBC competition show, The Sing Off in 2013. OK then. DEFINITELY A SET UP or I’ll eat my shirt. – NO (for now maybe)
Cole Swensen – Singer
NBC dropped a preview of this audition last week. Twenty-three year old Cole is a singer. His hook in order to stand out in front of the judges is to bring his mother out to play cello as he sings Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” accompanying himself on guitar.
Actually, Cole’s sleepy, dreamy tone needs the boost his mother’s lovely string playing adds. The arrangement perks up a little in the middle, and it’s mostly due to his mom’s vibrant accompaniment. Really, it would have been a boring rendition without her.
Mel calls his tone “distinctive.” Howie loves the song and also Cole’s rendition. Sofia loved seeing a family come together. Simon pulls out the trick where he makes it sound like he hates it at first, but then surprise (NOT), he admits he loves it. I mean everybody sees that Simon bit coming, right? – 4 yeses
Phobias – Horror Magicians
It’s well known that Simon hates clowns (WHO DOESN’T HATE CLOWNS). So, bring on a clown act. The clown doesn’t speak. He has commands written on his body. He asks the judges to pick a string and to pull it hard. The balloons pop. More clowns appear to menace Simon. It’s basically one of those horror magic acts, like that gal from Asia, Sacred Riana. AGT fans don’t generally love this stuff. Riana was gone from the show the minute viewer voting started. The big finish–disappear the girl clown so she can sneak up behind Howie and scare the crap out of him.
Simon calls it horrific, but he loved it. Sofia agrees. Mel calls it frightening, awful and entertaining. – 4 yeses. Simon was SO SCARED he needed a break to pimp IKEA furniture. It’s the IKEA lounge!
Girish and the Chronicles – Singing group
They are a throwback hair metal band from India. They seem to still be digesting real American culture, although they obviously love it.
The lead singer is your classic metal screamer. But instead of covering a classic metal song, they cover Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain” transformed into a total banger. So that’s interesting. These guys have way more hair than Adele does.
Sofia loved it. Mel B calls them one of her favorite acts so far this season. Howie calls it “so beautiful.” Simon notes that the audience loves it. – 4 yeses
Messoudi Brothers – Sword Juggling – Mel B Golden Buzzer
NBC previewed this Golden Buzzer act a few weeks ago. Messoudi brothers were a trio when they made it to the semi-finals in 2019 as a hand balancing act. Now, two of the brothers return to perform a cheeky knife juggling act.
The routine consists of juggling knives as the boys strip down to their underwear, followed by putting their clothes back on. They incorporate their shoes and shirts into the act for laughs. They strip off black undies to reveal…stars and stripes undies. They manage to end the bit without mistakes. Maybe one or two?
Simon calls it “breathtaking.” He calls it a “moment.” Sofia could see how difficult the act was. Mel loved it so much that she gives them one of her Golden Buzzers. Sofia is mad, because SHE wanted to pick them as one of her Golden Buzzers.
Alex Zinger & Crew – Joke dancer
Another returnee from last season, Alex introduced himself as a “financial analyst” and a dancer! He didn’t win the panel over. They buzzed him off. Now he is seeking redemption, with backup dancers. They can dance. He still cannot.
Sure bet the producers invited him back and set up the dancers. Oh he’s moonwalking. Sort of. Sofia loved the backup dancers, him not so much. Simon thought he was boring last time. He’s still bad, but now interesting. “You stand for every man who wants to dance but can’t.” This time, he gets four yeses, The crowd convinced Sofia to change her no to a yes. – 4 yeses
