American Idol: 12 alums perform at free CMA 19/BMG Takeover concert
The summer American Idol Live tour featuring the winner and various finalists was, at one time, a yearly tradition. The final season on FOX dispensed with the tour. But when ABC rebooted the show in 2018, the franchise gave the summer outing another shot. While the tour sold out arenas during American Idol’s heyday in the aughts, as the show lost viewership, the venues became smaller, until the tour became a thing of the past.
Now, one of the only ways fans can see a bunch of American Idol alums from one season together on one stage is during the 19/BMG Takeover concert staged during the CMA festival in Nashville.
This year, twelve American Idol alums will take part in the “Takeover.” Right before the huge country music festival kicks off on Thursday, the singers will perform for fans on Wednesday June 4 at 6th & Peabody in Nashville, kicking off at 4 pm. The concert is FREE.
American Idol 2025 winner Jamal Roberts along with runner-up John Foster, 3rd place Breanna Nix and fellow season 23 alums Thunderstorm Artis, Kolbi Jordan, Gabby Samone and Mattie Pruitt will perform. In addition, alums from seasons past including Colin Stough (21), HunterGirl (20), Will Moseley (22), Wé Ani (21) and Ajii (22) will also take the stage.
American Idol put out a short video promo promoting the event, which is sponsored by the show’s recording subsidiary, 19 Recordings and their label partner, BMG.
