
American Idol Singers John Foster and Breanna Nix make their Grand Ole Opry debut
After performing as part of the 19 Recordings/BMG takeover with fellow American Idol alums on Wednesday June 4th as part of the CMA Festival, American Idol Top 3 singer Breanna Nix and runner-up John Foster made their Grand Ole Opry debuts in Nashville.

“John you brought down the House at the Show last night!” wrote Kathy91251 in a comment alongside a post from the Opry. “It brought tears to my eyes with your songs! How Great Thou Art was Outstanding and Murder on Music Row was Amazing and You truly have been sent by God to Improve this World with your Songs and Compassion for all of Mankind! You are Special!”
“It’s so fun to watch dreams come true,” the Opry Instagram account wrote alongside photos of John’s debut.
On May 24, a few days before American Idol crowned Jamal Roberts as the show’s season 23 winner, John announced his Saturday June 7 debut in an Instagram post. He had just performed with Craig Morgan at the Cajun Country Jam in his home state Louisiana.
He wrote, “The first time I went to the Opry, I fought back tears because I was so overwhelmed with joy,” He continued, “As an amateur country music historian, there is no more significant place to my passion (country music) than the Grand Ole Opry. This has been my #1 dream ever since I started music, and now, because of your support, my dream will come true! I will NEVER be able to express my gratitude! Glory be to God!”
John Foster covers Amazing Grace including a French Cajun chorus
John recently released a one-take acoustic performance of “Amazing Grace.” He wrote alongside the video on Instagram, “I thought it fitting that my first Post-Idol music video be “Amazing Grace”, because it’s His Grace that’s brought me this far. This is a raw, one-take recording, and every lyric, including the Cajun French chorus, is a thank you to God. Thank you Fable House for capturing this moment.”
Breanna Nix Opry debut earned two standing ovations
Breanna made her debut on Thursday, June 5. The Opry wrote on Instagram alongside a set of photos, “American Idol sensation, Breanna Nix, just stunned the crowd for her Opry debut earning TWO standing ovations!”
Breanna posted a series of social media messages. She described her Opry debut experience, writing “What an absolute dream come true.”
