American Idol runner-up Alejandro Aranda has dropped another song! The singer/songwriter who goes by the moniker Scarypoolparty, performed “Cholo Love” on American Idol as his victory song after being chosen for the Top 10. Now the lush ballad is out as a new single.
Released on Hollywood Records, the song was co-written by Alejandro along with TJ Routon. It was co-produced by Alejandro and Sawyr.
The video, directed by Al Kalyk, opens with Alejandro at the piano. A message flashes on the screen.
Captured within my mind I see my demons judging the final performance. Only the righteous ones seem to hide behind stones. Only my anxiety seems to hide behind the mask. Bleed into the blur. Color into the sun.
The singer/songwriter seems to be alluding to a fear of being judged and the power of anxiety. As the camera pulls back, a circle of demonic looking figures encircle Alejandro. But he’s oblivious to them as he continues to perform, empowered by the music. His deft piano skills are highlighted here. And for those who have trouble deciphering his lyrics, they are helpfully posted underneath the Youtube video…

Alejandro will hit the road on a tour this fall that winds through North America and ends with a couple of UK stops. But if you haven’t bought your tickets yet, you are likely out of luck. The tour is nearly sold out, including both London dates.
