Alejandro Aranda ended his sold-out summer tour in his hometown, Pomona, earlier this week. The American Idol 2019 runner up posted a message to his fans thanking them for attending his shows. The message also included a confession.
“This tour was insane for me,” Alejandro wrote on his Instagram. “I had to get on so many flights and deal with a lot of emotional battles between myself. But all in all I’m very happy I did it. Thank you for those that came out. See you in the fall<3. @skylerbarberio took this photo And many other photo[s], just want to say thanks.”

Alejandro, who records under the name Scarypoolparty, missed the post-American Idol finale media tour in New York City due to his fear of flying. The singer/songwriter got on a private plane with winner Laine Hardy. But after the doors closed, and before the plane took off, Alejandro confessed that he couldn’t handle flying, and disembarked. Laine went on to New York City by himself. The next day, Idol host Ryan Seacrest described what happened on his morning talk show, Live with Ryan & Kelly.
So, good for Alejandro, that he faced his fears and took those plane rides, I’m assuming he flew commercial. Those big planes are a lot less scary than small private jets. Also, I’m sure he planned ahead of time.
Meanwhile, Alejandro will join his fellow American Idol Top 10 finalists Saturday night (July 29). The group will perform at the Museum of Flight in Seattle for an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. In August, he’ll play Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival, before hitting the road on another tour this fall.
UPDATE: Alejandro did not perform in Seattle due to illness.
