Haley Slaton’s American Idol audition aired on Sunday (March 20). At the time of her audition in Austin last fall she was 5 months pregnant, and confident she could navigate the competition, even with a young infant in tow. Her mother, Sarah Gorman, accompanied her to the audition.
What the show didn’t mention, however, was that Haley met a fellow auditioner during auditions, Jordyn Myles, and began dating him. What’s more, she married him in December before giving birth to her son. The show hasn’t aired Jordyn’s audition, no word on if he advanced to Hollywood. However, Haley did receive a golden ticket after she sang The Climb by Miley Cyrus and One and Only by Adele in front of judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan.

“We got married pretty quick,” Haley told the Gazette. “We just knew. We started right off the bat talking to each other, and it ended up being an everyday thing. I was already pregnant, and he stepped up to be a father, and I couldn’t thank him enough for that. We’re very in love, we’re very happy that we met, and I feel like another reason why I was on the show was to meet him. That was a great experience — to meet someone that I finally could spend the rest of my life with.”
The couple met at at the Austin auditions in early October and were married only a few months later in December. Jordyn moved to Iowa from Louisiana. Baby boy Jaelyn recently turned 2 months old. The two plan to move to Cedar Rapids in May.
“I was definitely very nervous, because being pregnant on the show, I obviously didn’t have a lot of wind,” she said. “I was very nervous that I wasn’t going to be able to hold a note, or something was going to happen, but once I got up there in front of the judges, they made me feel really at home. They made me feel like they’re just humans, too, and we’re all human, so I went up there and gave it my best.”
The couple put together a Tik Tok wedding announcement before Haley’s audition aired.

American Idol will air a special audition/clip show episode on ABC at 11:35 pm ET/PT after the Oscars Sunday March 27. Hollywood Week kicks off on Monday March 28. The show will feature a slew of alums who return to help mentor the contestants.
