The American Idol Top 3 take the stage ONE LAST TIME on Sunday (May 23) for the grand finale. Chayce Beckham, Grace Kinstler and Willie Spence will perform THREE songs: A Hometown Song; Favorite Moments on the Show; Judges Pick. The event will air on live on ABC coast to coast, allowing fans everywhere to vote in real time. By the end of the 3 hour show, a winner will be crowned.

Who Will win American Idol 2021? Ahead of Sunday’s finale, here is how I rank the Top 3. Consider the ranking a prediction. I am very sure of the winner. No 2 and No 3 could go either way. I based the rankings on strength going into the finale, and the song spoilers (linked above!) Make YOUR predictions, in comments, ONE LAST TIME.

3. Grace Kinstler – Grace has a strong fan base. But I’m not sure how the average American Idol viewer will feel about her tired song choices.”Natural Woman,” “I Have Nothing” and “All By Myself” are uninspired song choices that are performed over and over again on singing shows. On one hand, tried and true often wins the game! On the other, playing it safe at such a crucial time could hurt her. Grace initially had issues letting her guard down. But her personal growth arc is about learning to be vulnerable. If she brings her own vibe to these oft performed songs, and doesn’t hold back, she could prevail.
2. Willie Spence – Willie’s song choices are meant to bring the house down: “Georgia on My Mind,” “A Change is Gonna Come,” and “Stand Up.” Any one those songs could make a major moment for Willie, who has been consistently great all season. The king of the key and chord change, his power and emotion could nab him the runner up spot. Willie is never afraid to show vulnerability, which is also in his favor.
1. Chayce Beckham – Willie and Grace clearly outclass Chayce in the vocal department. But the best singer doesn’t always win American Idol. Often, it’s the likeable guy who strums a guitar. And in Chayce’s case, he’s a likeable guy who can also self-pen an original song that sat at No 1 for days on iTunes. Clearly his backstory, which detailed his descent into and return from alcohol addiction resonates. He’s been fearless about sharing the darkest moments of his life, and that’s why viewers connect to his story. Additionally, he’s been one of the more consistent performers all season. And the judges/producers seem to be pushing for his win. The only caveat: Real time voting can be unpredictable! In the end, any of the three could win.
