American Idol 2019 Top 20 Solos Celebrity Duets Taping Schedules

AMERICAN IDOL - ABC's

Heads Up! American Idol will be taping the Top 20 Solos and Celebrity duets on Thursday February 14 and Friday February 15 respectively. Here’s the casting letter set out by On Camera Audiences to prospective attendees (Courtesy of Adam)

Join superstar judges Katy Perry Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie and help us choose the final 12 for the new season of American Idol! For 2 days only, the top 20 contestants are competing on stage at The Wiltern theater and LIMITED tickets are FREE to attend.

On Thursday February 14th (Valentine’s Day) we are taping the contestants solo performances. The show is from 12:30 p.m. – 5 p.m, so it’s a great way to spend the day–see a free concert and then go out for dinner. On Friday February 15th (from 3:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.) the contestants will sing duets with celebrity guests. We’re not allowed to release the names of the celebrity guests but it is an awesome collection of some of the biggest names in music.

THIS IS A CASTED EVENT AND IS STANDING ROOM ONLY. You and everyone in your party must be between 14 – 49 years old. All tickets are free and admission is guaranteed.

Please note that due to the nature of the taping and the set, anyone participating must possess the physical ability to stand for extended periods, walk up and down the stairs as needed, follow verbal and visual instructions without assistance, and be in general good health without any conditions that would restrict or limit any of the above activities. Thanks and we hope you can make it.

The format of the show appears to be the same as last year, but with fewer contestants at each stage.

American Idol 2019 Spoilers: Showcase Round Contestant List

In 2018, it went: Top 50 Showcase –> Top 24 Solos and Celebrity Duets –> Top 14. This year it’s the same but: Top 40 Showcase — Top 20 Solos and Celebrity Duets –> Top 12 (Update: New spoilers say Top 20 will be cut to a Top 14 as in previous years).

It appears that like last year, viewers at home will not begin voting until the Top 14 is chosen by the judges. And I imagine, like last year, there will be spoilers.

Also, it took FOUR sessions last year to tape the solos and celebrity duets, which were spread over two weeks and 4 episodes. This year, it looks like the episodes will be taped over two days. Not quite sure what that means for the schedule. In 2018, 5 contestants were eliminated by the judges at the end of each Monday.

Check out the taping schedule HERE. Note there is a taping on Saturday Feb 15 that is listed as FULL Maybe filming the results?
