The American Idol season 17 judges round have concluded. Judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan plus host Ryan Seacrest saw hopefuls in Los Angeles on Thursday (Nov 8), Friday (Nov 9) and Saturday (Nov 10).
“I think we found better talent than the first season,” Katy told Extra in between auditions. “People were watching the first season and taking it seriously.” She adds that some of the talent was so good, it was hard to believe they weren’t signed already. Katy teases that one of the hopefuls “sounds like Kelly Clarkson.” Comparisons to American Idol OG winner. Way to hype the season, Katy!
Ryan claims that ALL the judges are tougher this season on the singers. “They say no. It’s a nice no. But they say no faster.”
A fun surprise for the singers: American Idol 2018 Top 7 contestant, Catie Turner, was on hand to lend support and advice to the singers before one of the biggest auditions of their lives.
