American Idol judges auditions headed to Louisville, Kentucky this week. On Monday, Oct 22, Tuesday Oct 23 and Wednesday Oct 24 a slew of hopefuls sang for American Idol judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. Singers who passed the test earned that coveted Golden Ticket to the Hollywood Rounds.
The closed auditions took place at the Muhammad Ali Center. It’s a very colorful location that “features an interactive museum, educational programming, and special events to inspire young adults and adults to pursue greatness in their own lives, communities and countries.”
Additionally, the judges met the Mayor, palled around with local firefighters and had their faces carved into pumpkins by an expert. Also, Season 16 runner up Caleb Lee Hutchinson and Top 24 singer Layla Spring (and her sister Dyxie) were on location to give hopefuls encouragement and advice.
Louisville is the third stop on the country-wide American Idol judges round tour. Each city features auditions in a landmark location. For instance, the first stop, Denver, happened at Wings over the Rockies, Air and Space Museum. The second spot, in Idaho, took place on gorgeous Lake Coeur d’Alene. And now Idol in Louisville finds its fighting spirit at the Muhammad Ali Center.
FUN FACT: The company that owns American Idol, Core Media once owned Muhammad Ali Enterprises.
Here’s an upload of American Idol’s Instagram story which covers all three days of auditions. The 7 minute clip is great overview of the venue, not to mention cast hijinks. Host Ryan Seacrest arrives a little late, due to his busy, busy schedule (i.e. 1 zillion jobs).
