American Idol 14 Spoilers The Showcase Round
Last month, we reported that the remaining American Idol 14 contestants would be returning to Los Angeles to compete in a new round called The Showcase. At the time we reported the spoiler, there was no date yet set for the round. We only knew that it was to take place in December, on dates to be announced.
In the past 24 hours, I have been able to confirm for CERTAIN that the showcase is ON. The finalists have been in Los Angeles THIS WEEK competing in “The Showcase” at the House of Blues. There is at least one more day of competition before wrapping up.
We had our first clue that something was up, when we noticed activity on several of the finalists’ twitter accounts, around December 2. Several of the singers were tweeting about boarding planes to Los Angeles. Social media activity since then supported our hunch that the finalists were, indeed, together in LA.
Each of the contestants who advanced to this new round submitted THREE songs. Producers chose ONE. Singers would then perform the producer-picked tunes, with Rickey Minor and his band accompanying them.
When we initially spoiled “The Showcase” we believed a Top 40 would compete in the next round. In the weeks that followed our initial spoiler, we learned that the Top 40 is actually a Top 48.
As far as what will happen next, I’m not certain. Will the Top 24 be revealed and taped at the House of Blues this week? That’s what I’d LOVE to know. If you have a tip, PLEASE click this link to contact me!
The 3 hour American Idol 14 premier begins on January 7 with a two hour episode 8/7c PM, and continues January 8/7c pm on FOX.
Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. return as judges (with a New York City fill in for Keith by Adam Lambert). Of course, host Ryan Seacrest will be back. But the big change? Big Machine Records CEO, Scott Borchetta, will take Randy Jackson’s place as in-house mentor. The record executive, responsible for the success of pop superstar, Taylor Swift, will advise the singers from Hollywood week and beyond. After the confetti flies, his label, in partnership with 19 Entertainment and Universal Music Group, will release the winners album.
That’s exciting stuff. ALMOST EXCITING as American Idol spoilers! If you have them, click that link above. And, as always, we WILL keep you posted.
A big thanks to Adam and his super-sleuthing skills!
