Donald Trump Battles with Current Miss Universe (UPDATED)

Donald Trump has been dumped by NBC, Univision, several countries and a slew of companies after making derogatory comments about immigrants while announcing his candidacy for president.

Now, he’s battling with the reigning Miss Universe, Paulina Vega, who happens to be Latina. Miss Colombia posted her reaction to Trump calling Mexican immigrants “rapists,” drug dealers and criminals in a note on her Instagram account.

Here is Vega’s full statement:

I find Mr. Trump’s comments unjust and hurtful. As a Colombian and as Miss Universe, I want to show my support and validate the sentiments of the Latin community.

The Miss Universe Organization works independently from its owners. For the past 64 years, they have created partnerships with great charity groups and have helped thousands of communities. Their legacy of uniting countries from around the world has been inspiring to many. If the Miss Universe Organization shared any anti-Latin sentiments or any type of racial biases, I wouldn’t be in this position today.

I strongly believe that dividing and categorizing humankind only holds it back. Acknowledging and embracing the differences that exist across humanity is the first step in real and substantial development. We must strive together in order to improve the common good.

Of course, Trump fired back on twitter.

Lovely. Trump has been doing battle on his twitter account all week. If you’re looking for cheap entertainment, check it out. Watching blowhard Trump finally self destruct is a beautiful thing.

UPDATE: Trump admits that running for President is bad for his “Brand.” He also claims he quit everything rather than got fired. From a call-in interview to Fox and Friends:

“This isn’t good for my brand; I think it’s bad for my brand,” Trump said in response to critics who’ve said he’s only running for president to bolster his image. “Maybe I’m leading in polls, but this is certainly not good. I lose customers; I lose people. I had one of the top shows on television, The Apprentice, and I decided not to do it because I wanted to do this. I mean who gives up a top, top show. Plus I gave up hundreds of millions of dollars from deals where I’m doing this and then you hear about a NASCAR and you hear about an NBC and you hear about different people that dropped Trump because Trump wants safety in the United States. If you think of it, what am I doing? I say let’s make our country safe and people are offended. It’s incredible.”
