Pop diva Mariah Carey had her big re-do on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest Sunday night. The singer performed two of her biggest hits, “Vision of Love” and “Hero.” And unlike last year’s disaster, she got through the performance without any mishaps.

Mariah Carey Showed Up For New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Soundcheck

Mariah didn’t lip sync, but she did avoid hitting those high notes that she’s known for. Maybe she was erring on the side of caution, or perhaps the near zero temperatures affected her voice.

Indeed, in between her two songs, Mariah was asking for her tea to warm her vocal cords before singing. But alas, there was no no hot tea for Mimi.

“I’m just going to take a sip of tea if they’ll let me. They told me there would be tea,” Mariah said. When she couldn’t find it, out came the dramatics, “Ugh, it’s a disaster. Okay, well, we’ll just have to rough it. I’m going to be just like everybody else with no hot tea.” Poor Mimi.

And after the ball dropped, out on the platform with fellow performers Camila Cabello, Sugarland and Nick Jonas, Ryan asked the singer how she was feeling about New Year’s Eve this year. Mariah answered, “Oh. I’m feeling a lot better than last year when I had to get my own police escort to walk away…” Oof!

All was not lost, however. At the end of the day, Mariah was not deprived of her hot tea, as she revealed on Instagram. “Found my tea!”
