Mariah Carey Showed Up for New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Soundcheck

Mariah Carey is getting a do-over. The pop diva is set to make a return visit to Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest. It’s her big redemption moment after last year’s performance went horribly awry.

The flub-up kicked off a round of finger pointing. Mariah claimed she couldn’t hear the music through her earpiece. Dick Clark productions blamed it on Mariah’s refusal to do a soundcheck.  The singer had a stand-in on stage for part of it.

This time around, Mariah is so serious about redemption, she cut her Aspen vacation short to participate in a FULL soundcheck on Sunday afternoon. According to TMZ, it went really well.

Mariah Carey didn’t cut any corners ahead of her NYE redemption performance in Times Square … ’cause she just completed a full soundcheck and rehearsal.

Mariah wrapped her rehearsal and soundcheck Sunday afternoon in NYC, where she’s hours away from round 2 of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.” Eyewitnesses tell us she completed her run-through with no issues, and looks ready for tonight.

For his part, host Ryan Seacrest tells E News that he’s “anxious” to see Mariah come back, but cautions on the unpredictability of the outdoor setup in Times Square:

“We are really not in control. This is so different than doing a show on stage or in a theater or in an arena. You are in Times Square with all the elements including windchill of -5. It’s not like that on the set.”

The host with the most also admitted that they never thought the big-voiced singer would agree to be on the live program once again but were happy that she’d signed on. “This year we are anxious to see Mariah come back,” said Seacrest.

The TV personality said that this year there were a lot more rehearsals involved and believed that the glittering gal would be able to knock it out of the park this time.
