Alisan Porter returned “home” to The Voice Tuesday night (May 2) to perform her new single “Deep Water.” The season 10 winner is currently preparing to release her new EP I Come In Pieces sometime this summer.
“I took a five day trip to Nashville and wrote my entire EP,” Alisan explained in a video package that preceded her performance. “I spent a lot of time in the studio writing down things that have happened and just really diving into stories.” She continued. “I wasn’t prepared to release something until I knew that it was important.”
About the meaning of “Deep Water,” Alisan said, “It’s about connections and a song about finding your way with a person who is trying to find their way.
“I think the most important thing for is is just to continue to make great music, to give my fans my authentic self.”
Following her season 10 win and staunchly committed personal vision, Alisan turned down a major label release in order to follow her heart. The singer co-wrote “Deep Water” with Matt Rollings and Stephony Smith. It was produced by Greg Wells (Adele, Elton John).
