HEY. Did you know it was Blake Shelton’s last season on The Voice? Just kidding. Of course you do. It’s the constant theme the show won’t let go. But can’t say I blame them. Blake leaving The Voice is akin to Simon Cowell leaving American Idol. But worse. Simon could barely stay awake during his last season on the show (Season 9 in 2010). He certainly seemed replaceable by the end.

But while Blake SAYS it’s been time to move on for a couple of years now, he’s NEVER phoned it in. That guy is a professional from top to bottom and deserves all the flowers. The first season without him next fall will be very weird, indeed.

But some of the gimmicks. I get that The Voice is part singing competition and part situation comedy. But that lie detector bit was way cringey. Poor Chloe Abbott was left hanging on stage while the coaches did the lamest of bits.

As far as the new coaches are concerned, Chance The Rapper has been really low key. It’s like he hasn’t quite found his place in the “family,” while his fellow newbie, Niall Horan is already Blake’s “son.” The rivalry between Blake and Kelly Clarkson can be pretty amusing at times.

The talent on The Voice continues to be impressive. Cool indie chick Kate Cosentino and her unique vibe might be my favorite this week (Fact Check: Italian families don’t sit around the table singing the pizza pie song. /2nd hand embarrassment). EJ Michels is already underrated. His tone is gorgeous. Rock chicks don’t last long, but Allie Keck deserves her spot on the show nevertheless! And the teens Mary Kate Connor and Ryley Tate Wilson both have a ton of potential.
