Laith Al-Saadi and Adam Wakefield jumped ahead of Mary Sarah overnight to secure spots in the Top 10. Hello x10 multiplier. Mary was so close…but she didn’t make the cut. Early front-runner Alisan Porter sits outside the Top 20. At this point, I’d bet on her not winning. I suspect the finale will be a race between Laith and Adam. Bryan sits outside the Top 20 as well, which is frankly, disappointing. I get why Alisan failed to land for some viewers, but Bryan arguably had the performance of the night.
The REAL winners of The Voice iTunes horse race are coaches Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. The duet they debuted last night, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” sits at #2 on the overall chart.
Just for fun, compare today’s noon numbers to last season’s comparable episode (one week before the semi final). Four singers landed in the Top 5 that week, seven in the Top 10 and eight in the Top 20. The top charter, Jordan Smith, sat at #2. The iTunes numbers are definitely down this season compared to last fall.
I totally forgot about Christina Grimmie’s shining moment singing “Hold On We’re Going Home” during her season 6 run. But I don’t think that’s why Nick Hagelin charted so poorly. I thought it was one of his better performances, but admittedly, when it comes to Nick, the bar is set low. The question now is who will win the seemingly inevitable showdown between Nick and Paxton Ingram?

Who Will Be Eliminated?
More of you are sure that Nick WILL be eliminated than believe he SHOULD be eliminated. I think Nick will go home, however I do think there’s a chance he could prevail over Paxton. Let’s say Paxton picks another wtf song choice and decides to incorporate some fancy dance moves, and Nick chooses a song that tugs at the heart strings, the latter could prevail.
Come to think of it, these two contestants are similar in a few ways. They are both dancers turned singers and have had their best weeks singing straight up emotional ballads. It should be a battle of the ballads tonight if Nick and Paxton choose their save me songs wisely.
