The Voice 10 – Top 9 Performances – Take the Polls!

The Voice - Season 10

The iTunes chart numbers are a little surprising. I expected Mary Sarah to do well, but not higher than Laith Al-Saadi or Adam Wakefield. I am REALLY surprised that Alisan Porter’s powerhouse “Cryin” is outside of the Top 20 after the coaches praise and near pimp spot. Speaking of pimp spot: Bryan Bautista had the performance of the night, and he’s in the middle of the pack. I don’t know what to say about that.

I said earlier in this week’s power list that Alisan needs to show viewers what kind of artist she’ll be when she leaves the show. Yes, she sings the crap out of rock songs, but she needs to appear relevant in some way. Last week, with the Patty Griffin song, I understood where she might fit in the musical landscape. This week, not so much. Again, Alisan had one of the best performances of the night, but it wasn’t the right song for her. She’s a hard sell on a singing show because she’s older and a woman. It’s unfair, but that’s the way it is. She’s got to be really careful about song selection.

I’m thinking Mary Sarah’s chances of making the finals look better and better. I’m glad Hannah Houston is charting well, even if I was not in love with her rendition of “Say You Love Me.” She’s still one of my favorites. Shalyah Fearing still isn’t connecting with viewers in a big way. At this point, her chance to make the finals is shot.

I think Paxton Ingram may finally hit the bottom 2 this week. I figured performing first would hurt him. Paxton and Nick Hagelin for the sing off. But who would prevail? Gotta think on that.
