Fans have been on the edge of their seat waiting for The Voice coaches Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani to perform an epic duet together on The Voice stage. Or, that’s what US Magazine would have you believe. The gossip rags can’t seem to get enough of these two.
The song, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” is off of Blake’s forthcoming album, If I’m Honest, due out May 20. Both Blake and Gwen co-wrote the country tune, which is about a couple on the cusp of a breakup…or perhaps they’ll stay together!
The two of them as a musical duo is akin to a CMT award show pairing put together to attract maximum attention without regard to whether the singers mesh artistically. Gwen doesn’t really cut it as a country singer. I can’t help thinking there are female vocalists who would make more sense–even though Gwen wrote the song. Oops. For a duo in love, this performance lacked the expected emotional intensity.
