Survivor Season 36 Ghost Island Week 4 Recap and Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor: Ghost Island airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

The episode begins with the Malolo tribe returning to camp after tribal council. Bradley says it was a wake-up call, but he’s glad the original Naviti tribe stayed loyal. He also says he initially underestimated Michael, but instead Michael played hard and outed himself as a huge threat. Michael is disappointed he didn’t play the hidden immunity idol correctly. He says he has his work cut out for him as he, Stephanie, and Jenna are on the bottom of the tribe.

It’s time for the reward challenge. They must go through a pile of sandbags to find and pull a lever. The lever will release more sandbags. They must then toss the sandbags at targets to raise flags. The first tribe to raise three flags will win a coffee and pastry reward. The challenge begins, and Chris leads Naviti to victory when he hits all the targets himself. Naviti wins reward! Afterwards, the Malolo tribe members draw rocks to determine who will go to Ghost Island. Stephanie draws the white rock; she will go to Ghost Island.

Stephanie arrives at Ghost Island, and she is concerned being away from her tribe since she’s on the bottom. She smashes an urn, and she learns she won’t get the chance to play for an advantage today. We hear Stephanie talk about being a single mom and the inner strength she has. She believes in herself and will continue to have hope moving forward in the game. Meanwhile, at the Naviti tribe, James talks about Chris in his confessional. He says Chris has shown to be a valuable team member, and he wants the former Malolo tribe members to work with him. In addition, Donathan is feeling homesick and he opens up to Laurel about his grandmother. Chris notices, and he tells Donathan about his mother who is in assisted living at the moment. Chris sees this as an opportunity to bond with Donathan. In his confessional, Donathan acknowledges how he’s in the middle. His closest ally is Laurel, who wants to vote Chris out next. However, Donathan has bonded with Chris and doesn’t want him to go. He’s torn what to do, but he says he will do what is best for his game.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. One tribe member must run across a floating bridge into the water with a body board attached to a rope and retrieve a bag. Other tribe members will use a crank to pull back the tribe member back to shore. They must retrieve three bags one at a time. Once they have all their bags, they must solve a combination lock that will unlock a slide puzzle. The first tribe to solve the puzzle will win immunity. The challenge begins, and Naviti takes an early lead. However, Naviti loses their lead when Libby takes too long to go across the bridge. It’s a fairly even challenge until Naviti is the first to get the the slide puzzle. It’s even once again as James and Domenick work on the puzzle for Naviti and Bradley and Kellyn work on the puzzle for Malolo. Naviti solves the puzzle first. Naviti wins immunity!

At the Malolo tribe, Michael admits in a confessional that he doesn’t want to vote out Jenna or Stephanie, but he says it’s every man for himself since one of the three of them will most likely be voted out tonight. Jenna also admits it’s an individual game, and she tries to bond with Sebastian. He’s aware that she’s flirting with him, but he doesn’t mind. Later, we see Desiree, Chelsea, and Sebastian discuss the vote. They decide to put the target on Stephanie (they originally wanted to vote for Jenna). Meanwhile, Stephanie approaches Bradley and asks to stay in the game. Afterwards, Bradley, Kellyn, and Chelsea agree to vote out Michael, but Michael makes his pitch to Bradley next. Michael even breaks down in tears in his confessional. He refuses to give up and hopes to stay in the game, especially after waiting ten years for the chance to play. The majority alliances is still torn what to do, and Desiree even looks through Stephanie’s bag to see if she has an advantage, which she does not. Bradley explains there are several variables, and he wants to vote out the person that won’t be a threat to his game in the long run.

It’s time for tribal council. Jeff asks if it’s going to be either Michael, Stephanie, or Jenna leaving tonight, and Kellyn admits it will be. However, she explains that they were undecided whom to vote out all day long. Stephanie discusses being on Ghost Island, so she does not know what she missed out on. The talk turns to the challenges, and Michael makes a pitch to keep him since he’s an asset in challenges. He also says he’s very loyal, which he proved in the last tribal council. Jeff asks Stephanie why she wants to stay, and she says it’s been her dream to be on Survivor. She also wants to experience personal growth, and she doesn’t want to let down anyone back home. She wants to stay. Jeff asks Jenna her thoughts, and she is hoping to get better at building relationships. Michael says that he’s been a fan of Survivor for a long time too, and he wants to stay. Before they vote, Desiree says the majority did find a reason for whom to vote out and they will see when the votes are read.

Jeff reads the votes. The first vote is for…
