Survivor 31 Second Chance – Week 8 Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor: Second Chance airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

Last week the tribes merged and Kass was voted out. How will the current allegiances affect the outcome of tonight’s tribal council? The preview has been hinting that a big move will be made with a possible blindside, but will that actually play out tonight? Let’s find out!

The morning after tribal council, Savage feels like he’s in a good spot and he wants to keep his alliance solid. He wants them to pick off Ciera, Wentworth, and Abi at the next three tribal councils. Meanwhile, Ciera and Stephen talk game while walking down the beach. She knows he wants to make a big move, and she wants to convince him to do so now. She tells him she would take out Joe if he loses immunity. Stephen is happy to hear this, and he admits they just need six votes to do so.

It’s time for the reward challenge. They will be split into two teams of six, and they will have to paddle out to the water to collect crates. Once they collect all the crates, they will have to stack them in order so there are no repeating colors on any sides. The Green Team is Wentworth, Kimmi, Wiglesworth, Joe, Ciera, and Keith. The Purple Team is Tasha, Savage, Spencer, Jeremy, Stephen, and Abi. The boats collide as they struggle paddling, but the Green Team takes a huge lead as Joe and Keith work well collecting the crates. Abi struggles with collecting the crates before Spencer takes over. The Green Team begins stacking before the Purple Team returns to the beach. However, the Purple Team gets to the beach eventually and it soon becomes anyone’s game. At one point, the Purple Team almost wins, but have the color red repeating twice. Minutes afterward, the Green Team completes the challenge and win. Green Team wins reward! They will get to enjoy a meal at the Survivor café.

The winners of the reward challenge enjoy food at the Survivor Café. While they’re eating and relaxing, Ciera talks strategy and admits her mistakes from her past season. She tells them all that Savage, Stephen, Tasha, and Jeremy are a tight group. Joe admits in a confessional that he wants to work with the group Ciera just mentioned, but realizes that he might need to make a move against them.

Back at camp, Stephen is really disappointed that he lost the reward. He believes that not going on rewards hurt him last time since he lost the chance to bond with people. Stephen brings up taking out Joe to Jeremy again. Jeremy is hesitant because he wants Joe as a shield. Stephen goes to rally up votes against Joe. Spencer tells Stephen he is willing to take out Joe. While Stephen also tries to sway Tasha to target Joe, Savage overhears him. He is disgusted that Stephen is targeting Joe (a supposed ally) because in Savage’s opinion that is a a dirty way to play the game. When the winners return to camp, Savage tells Joe Stephen’s plan immediately. Joe is glad that Savage is looking out for him, but believes he absolutely needs to win immunity to stay in the game.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. It’s an endurance challenge that requires everyone to balance a ball on a round platform while holding onto ropes. As the challenge progresses, they will have to move their hands farther away on the rope. The challenge begins, and Wentworth, Ciera, Wiglesworth, and Jeremy’s balls fall off. They are the first four out. Abi is the next one out, and she is followed by Stephen. Half of them are already out. Savage is the next one to be eliminated before the challenge moves on the the second round. The remaining five people will have to move their hands down the ropes. Kimmi and Tasha are the next two out. Only Keith, Joe, and Spencer remain. The third part begins, and Spencer is the next to be eliminated. 30 minutes later, Keith and Joe will now have to balance two balls. Joe’s balls are moving around the platform and are close to dropping, but Keith’s balls drop first. Joe wins immunity!

The tribe returns to camp. As people congratulate Joe for winning immunity, Stephen compares Joe to Moby Dick. He is Captain Ahab and Joe is his white whale. Joe and Savage agree to take out Stephen. Joe wants to sway the three girls on the bottom (Wentworth, Ciera, and Abi) to help them take out Stephen. He tells Wentworth the plan. She is excited about the three of them being spared and someone else being targeted. Wentworth tells Ciera the plan to take out Stephen and she is on board. Ciera says she’s willing to vote out anyone as long as it’s not her or Wentworth. Savage tells Tasha, Jeremy, Wiglesworth, and Spencer to take out Stephen.

However, Jeremy doesn’t want to take out Stephen. Jeremy manages to sway them all to take out Ciera or Wentworth before they take out one of their own. Afterwards, Tasha informs Joe they won’t be taking out Stephen after all. Joe tells this to Ciera and Wentworth, and the girls are disappointed that the plan is dead now. Wentworth tells Abi and Ciera that they all should agree to vote out the same person regardless, whether it’s Savage or Stephen.

It’s time for tribal council. Ciera says no one is playing for their spot. She continually reiterates that there will always be people on the bottom of an alliance, and those at the bottom should make a move against those at the top. Wentworth says four people are in control of the game, and Ciera agrees. Ciera says that the four people running the game are Jeremy, Savage, and Tasha and one of Stephen or Joe. Jeff asks Jeremy his thoughts on this, and Jeremy points out that Ciera said five names, so she doesn’t really know what’s going on. Jeff asks Joe and Savage their thoughts on having their names thrown out. Joe says the only security anyone can have in the game is immunity, so he’s glad to have the necklace tonight. Savage says the four of them just have mutual respect, but Ciera says that no one should buy that. Ciera says they need to wake up. Spencer then brings up the possibility of hidden immunity idols. He believes they have already been found. Wentworth says that she, Ciera, and Abi are on the bottom and this will be an easy vote tonight. Wentworth also says that people approached her to make a big move tonight, so she wasn’t the one instigating any blindsides tonight. Jeff asks her why not call those people out. She says she can’t, because she may have to work with those people if she is still in the game tomorrow.

It’s time for the vote. Everyone casts their vote, but we don’t see which names are written down. Before Jeff reads the votes, Wentworth plays her hidden immunity idol! Any votes cast for Wentworth will not count.

Jeff reads the votes. The first vote is for…

Wentworth

Savage is voted out and the second member of the jury. The entire tribe is shocked as Wentworth, Ciera, and Abi celebrate Wentworth’s effective play of the hidden immunity idol. “Unbelievable,” Savage mutters to himself before he gets his torch snuffed by Jeff. “You made it to the jury!” Abi reminds him as he walks off. Savage responds by flipping her off. “Right back at you!” Abi calls out.
