Adam Lambert and Simon Cowell Meet Again on the America’s Got Talent: All Star Finale
Adam Lambert performed on the America’s Got Talent: All Stars finale–which aired Monday (Feb 27) on NBC. He sang a cover of Sia’s “Chandelier” alongside two of the show’s finalists.
More than a performance, Adam’s appearance was a reunion with judge Simon Cowell, who sat on the American Idol panel in 2008, the year Adam competed and came in second place on season 8.
“You are honestly one of the nicest people in show business”
Afterward, Simon called the performance “amazing.” He also had kind words for Adam. “I have to say this,” said Simon. “We’ve known each other a long time.” Adam interrupted him at this point, as he experienced “major deja vu” standing in front of Simon on a judges panel once again. “But this time I’m going to be nice!” Simon assured the singer. “You are honestly one of the nicest people in show business I’ve ever met….I’m so proud of everything that you’ve achieved.”
Adam performed alongside two acrobatic acts, including aerialist Aidan Bryant and hand balancing trio, Bello Sisters. At the end of the episode, host Terry Crews announced that the “superfans” had voted, crowning Aidan the winner! (Read our Recap).
Adam Lambert’s cover of Sia’s “Chandelier” is from his new album of covers, High Drama out everywhere now.
Adam calls his mile-high platforms a “hazard”
As far as the performance is concerned, Terry asked Adam if he ever performed “alongside acts like this before.” No said Adam, before making a joke about his retro 70s platform shoes. They were VERY high. “I think these shoes that I wear were kind of a hazard, because I’m extra tall and there’s only so high he can go up, I think.”
In the morning, Simon posted video of himself and Adam meeting backstage for a hug and a few photos. Terry and fellow judges Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum stood in the background observing. “It’s always good to see my friend @adamlambert,” Simon wrote on Instagram.
