America’s Got Talent: All Stars Celebrity Guests

Musicians Weezer, Babyface, American Idol alum and Queen frontman Adam Lambert, AGT alum Lindsey Stirling, AGT winner and All-Star competitor Terry Fator, magician Mat Franco and choir group Voices of Hope.

Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum sit on the judges panel. Terry Crews serves as host.

The show begins with some hype from Terry, dressed in a purple tuxedo, as Queen’s “We Will Rock You” blasts. Next is the obligatory recap of last week’s performance finale. If you didn’t get your snack yet? Now is your chance!

Adam Lambert sings “Chandelier” while Aidan Bryant and Bello Sisters perform

First up tonight is American Idol alum and Queen frontman Adam Lambert singing Sia’s Chandelier from his covers album High Drama. This, as Aerialist Aidan Bryant and hand balancers the Bello Sisters perform in the background. Adam’s soaring vocals are the perfect accompaniment to the acts’ dramatic routines. Adam is wearing some super high platforms. Simon calls Adam “one of the nicest people in show business.”

Next, the kiddo who performed conservation poetry earlier in the competition, interviews the judges and acts on the red carpet. He’s very cute.

Tom Ball sings “Who Wants to Live Forever” with help from Voices of Hope

After that segment, Tom Ball joins Top 60 act The Voices of Hope choir for a magnificent cover of Queen’s “Who Wants to Live Forever.” Before the performance spoilers came out, I assumed Tom and Adam Lambert would duet. But the actual arrangement works. Each singer gets the spotlight rather than having to share it with another solo singer. It’s easily Tom’s best performance of the entire competition. What a vocal! Check out the preview HERE.

Kodi Lee and Light Balance Kids join forces

Now, Kodi Lee takes the stage to perform “Wake Me Up” by Avicii. He sings the first verse before introducing fellow finalists, Light Balance Kids. The song’s tempo picks up. Simon has the biggest smile on his face as the dancers hit a groove. The lights come up and…surprise! Kodi is on stage wearing a Light Balance Kids jacket. He was performing with them.

Next is a segment featuring the judges playing a “fake news” quiz. One of the bits is Simon wanting to be cryogenically frozen. Not fake!

Next, it’s comedian Mike E. Winfield who is NOT performing with a celebrity. Instead he gets his own video segment in which he reveals his “backup plan” as a future “host.” He’s watching Terry’s every move before embarking on turning himself into a Terry clone.

Ana-Maria Marjean performs with her idol Terry Fator

After the clip, Mike introduces Ventriloquist Ana-Maria Marjean and her Ventriloquist hero, season 2 winner Terry Fator. The puppets sing an Elvis duet. Terry’s throat moves a lot when he throws his voice. More than Ana’s. I thought they might joke about Ana advancing past Terry who was eliminated at the auditions. He calls Ana one of the best ventriloquists he’s ever seen in his entire life.

Avery Dixon joins Babyface to perform “Every Little Step”

Now, Saxophonist Avery Dixon joins musician Babyface on stage to perform “Every Little Step,” a big Bobby Brown hit from 1989. Babyface co-wrote it with L.A. Reid. They produced it too. He sings and plays guitar as Avery wails on his sax. Babyface describes Avery as a musician who plays “way beyond his years” and calls him “Incredible.”

MORE time wasting time fillers! A clip featuring the hosts playing a quiz featuring the Top 60 contestants.

Lindsey Stirling plays violin behind Power Duo’s romantic routine

Former America’s Got Talent contestant, violinist Lindsey Stirling, joins Aerialists and dancers Power Duo for a sweeping and romantic performance. Beautifully staged–loved the purple lighting. Lindsey wanted to watch while she was playing. She said,. “That was mind blowing!” The musician is selling a line of violins. “Get yourself one!” she says.

Weezer and Detroit Youth Choir go to “Beverly Hills”

Here’s an odd pairing! Alternative rock band Weezer perform with the Detroit Youth Choir. OK then! The band sings a little pop rock ditty on their own, before the choir joins them on stage to dance around and sing behind the band crooning their big hit, “Beverly. Hills.” I didn’t have this match up on my AGT Bingo card. At all! Rivers Cuomo calls the performance and the choir “super fun,” saying the arrangement made it enjoyable to bring out the old song again.

Aidan McCann and Mat Franco perform a clever card trick

America’s Got Talent winner Mat Franco performs a fun card trick at the judges table before inviting Aidan McCann to the stage. The young magician performs his own card trick using a deck of socks! His trick involves cards matching to socks that he’s actually wearing. Mat is wearing them as well. They end the trick together, turning up sock cards that match. And not only that, the trick circles back to Mat’s initial trick. Very clever and well executed!

Still wasting time! Next, it’s a video clip recapping the entire season. It’s meant to be tear jerking, as the Top 11 acts look at their initial auditions on their first shows.

I am shocked Kodi Lee did not make it into the Top 5, also Ana-Maria Marjean’s enduring popularity is a surprise. She’s really the break-out star of the season. However, the Top 2 seem about right. Both acts are fan favorites bringing talent and an engaging backstory to the show. Avery especially has grown a lot between his first AGT run.

Top 5

Aidan McCann – Fifth Place
Ana-Maria Marjean – Fourth Place
Light Balance Kids – Third Place

Top 2

Avery Dixon – Runner-up
Aidan Bryant – WINNER
