Season 9 Top 12 Girls Behind The Scenes, Plus My AOL Recap

Sorry about last night’s song spoiler failure. As it turned out, my supersecretspy was asked to be a seat filler for the live show, and he didn’t leave the studio (or get his cell phone back) until after the live show taped.

However, he did send me a few behind the scenes tidbits from last night’s show, posted after the jump.

My spy said Lacey Brown sang beautifully during dress rehearsal, but then it went all wrong during the live show.

Unfortunately for Lacey, I think she’s in danger, as is Ashley Rodriguez, whose lackluster performance and early slot will probably screw her over. We might be saying bye bye to Paige Miles as well, who I don’t think did enough to overcome going first and her lack of screen time.

– I felt soooooo bad for Lacey. During the dress rehearsal she was amazing. I loved her phrasing and subtle changing of the melody, i got chills. I don’t know what happened during the live show though, she just fell apart. It was like she and the band were working against each other. After the judges comments she was crying backstage and during the commercial Kara went back and gave her a hug and was giving her advice. I really hope she gets another shot.

– I know last year there were lots of reports that Kara was the odd woman out on the judging panel during commercial breaks and stuff. It didn’t seem that way at all tonight. She would get up and leave with Randy and Simon, if anything Ellen was left at the table with nothing to do. Simon and Kara were also chatting and giggling all night so it seems like they are a lot closer now.

– I was not a Katie fan at all before tonight, but seeing her in person really won me over. She kind of reminds of Diana DeGarmo in a good way. She has the big voice and really worked the stage/audience. I was surprised the judges didn’t give her better comments.
