The Voice 28 begins taping in July. When will season 29 tape? Will it air in the Spring?
Heads up The Voice fans. Season 28, which will air fall 2025, will begin taping in July. The panel is full of veterans, including Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, Michael Bublé and Niall Horan. Only Snoop has not won the show previously. Michael (Sofronio Vasquez, Adam David) and Niall (Gina Miles, Huntley) are double champs, while Reba (Asher Havon) has won once.
The Blind Auditions will tape on July 7, 8, 9 and 10. Tickets to the tapings are available to reserve at 1iota.com. Try to reserve tickets on early days. If the teams fill up, later tapings will be canceled.
Having said that, it’s interesting to note that two prior summers have included tapings for TWO seasons. Last spring, NBC announced panels for seasons 26 and 27. By fall both cycles were taped and done!
The Voice spring 2026 cycle CANCELED?
Why did NBC only announce the fall panel? Is it possible there WILL BE NO SPRING CYCLE? NBC has aired a spring cycle every season other than in 2022 when they experimented with a new competition show, American Song Contest. The series, featuring Kelly Clarkson and Snoop as co-hosts was a one-and-done dud.

However, many competitions that aired two cycles a year are down to only one. Dancing with the Stars and The Amazing Race only air once a year. The Masked Singer–such a hot property when it debuted in 2019–is skipping the fall cycle. Could The Voice be cutting back it’s franchise to once yearly as well? Or does NBC plan on announcing and taping the show later in the fall, as it typically did for most of the show’s run?
The Voice has less competition in the fall. However, in the spring It fights with American Idol on Mondays. While The Voice 27 got off to a solid start in February (Wiki), American Idol ratings outpaced it week to week. I mean, I had to double check with another source. Those ratings for The Voice finale were pathetic. Note that American Idol’s Sunday ratings were higher than Monday (Wiki)
The Voice cheap budget can’t compete with American Idol

But consider that American Idol began viewer voting with the two week Top 24 round, filmed in Hawaii, on April 13. Live shows coast to coast began on April 21. There were fun themes throughout the season. Former American Idol winner Carrie Underwood on the panel meant lots of fun tie ins with the show’s storied past.
On the other hand, The Voice voting didn’t begin until the penultimate week of shows on May 12. In other words, TWO live shows and TWO voting weeks. Not to mention that nearly the entire season had been filmed months in advance!
American Idol has always aired as a once a year event. Maybe it’s time for The Voice to do the same. Fall The Voice ratings were higher by comparison to the spring. Maybe the series can concentrate on one season, airing in the fall, which allows NBC to possibly expand the budget to include more live shows and voting.
