American Idol season 10 alum, Paul McDonald, drops his new music video for the single “Bright Lights.” The song, with lyrics like “Baby if the bright lights/Take you over to the dark side/I’m never a far cry/I will cover you…” is obviously about his ex-wife, Twilight star, Nikki Reed.
“Bright Lights isn’t a love song,” Paul explained to Billboard, in a recent interview, “but a song about love and the idea that when you share a deep connection with somebody, no matter where life takes each of you, you hope in some way that you’ll always be there for each other. Throughout the process of writing and creating the music for this album, I’ve been able to experiment with new sounds, expand my musical boundaries, and really dive into a new way of thinking on the songwriting and production end. Lyrically, these songs capture the past year of my life: transition, loss, heartache, growth, happiness, new love, and rebirth. I’m really looking forward to getting out and playing these new songs live.”
The singer/songwriter is currently in the homestretch of a crowdfunding project to raise funds for his first-ever solo album. Paul has raised over $7,000 of a 20k goal on Kickstarter with only 7 days to go.
