Paul McDonald – “Bright Lights” – NEW SONG (AUDIO)

American Idol season 10 alum, Paul McDonald, has previewed a brand new song at Billboard. Titled, “Bright Lights,” it’s pretty obvious the song is about his ex-wife, Twilight actress, Nikki Reed.

“Baby if the bright lights/Take you over to the dark side/I’m never a far cry/I will cover you…” goes the chorus of the upbeat new song.

“Bright Lights isn’t a love song,” McDonald explains to Billboard, “but a song about love and the idea that when you share a deep connection with somebody, no matter where life takes each of you, you hope in some way that you’ll always be there for each other. Throughout the process of writing and creating the music for this album, I’ve been able to experiment with new sounds, expand my musical boundaries, and really dive into a new way of thinking on the songwriting and production end. Lyrically, these songs capture the past year of my life: transition, loss, heartache, growth, happiness, new love, and rebirth. I’m really looking forward to getting out and playing these new songs live.”

Paul is crowdfunding his next album, his first solo effort, via Kickstarter. The Nashville-based singer/songwriter has over $3700.00 dollars raised toward a $20K goal, and 32 days to go! Maybe the bit of publicity Billboard brings will help fund his project on time.

In the meantime, check out “Bright Lights”
