In a late night twitter party last night with fans, Kris Allen band member, Cale Mills talked about about the Season 8 winner’s upcoming album. You can read the entire stream at Cale’s twitter profile @calevis24
He and Kris “have written a ton of songs for the new album, ” and Kris has written a lot with writers in Los Angeles and recently Nashville. “It’s great, ” says Cale.
The new songs cover a wide range, says Cale. The songs have an edge and are not purely “poppy”.
As far as when the band will enter the studio? “Creative stuff always takes time, and there are so many different separate moving gears that it takes a while, but hopefully soon, ” says Cale.
Two songs Kris has performed live in recent shows, “Shut that Door” and “Leave You Alone” have a good chance of being on the album, but, “the bulk of what we’ve worked on sounds very different! In a good way.”
The band wants to be on the radio, but not sacrifice who Kris is, or what music he loves. Cale thinks it’s possible–Coldplay and John Mayer have done it
There are no live appearances for the band in the near future, but things do pop up, so stay tuned. “We are really focused on doing the album right now, ” says Cale. But when they do play live, watch out for some acoustic versions of songs from Kris’s pre-Idol album, Brand New Shoes. “we’ve thrown around a couple [of songs] for acoustic shows.”
“The great albums of history have balance, ” says Cale. “Love, loss, rock, pop, soul, heart, dancing, tears. Life is that, so Art should be.”
“I think it’s gonna be great, ” says Cale of the upcoming album. “We are pushing and pushing to make the songs incredible. We’ve been blessed.”
