One of the highlights of Sunday’s (May 22) 2016 Billboard Music Awards was easily Kesha’s touching tribute to Bob Dylan. The pop star sang the early Dylan classic “It Ain’t Me Babe” with singer/songwriter/musician Ben Folds accompanying her on piano.
Kesha’s heartfelt and vulnerable vocal performance almost didn’t take place. Last week, Dr. Luke withdrew his permission for the singer to perform on the BBMAs when a rumor surfaced that she planned to use the event to speak out against the producer, with whom she’s currently embroiled in an ugly legal battle.
Once Luke had assurances from Kesha that she would not mention him or their legal issues on stage, he signed off on the singer’s performance.
