Kelly Clarkson’s Ex Overcharged Her, Ordered to Return Millions

Kelly Clarkson Brandon Blackstock Awards

Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock overcharged her in booking work. He’s ordered to return millions.

While the divorce between American Idol OG winner Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock has been settled for years, their battle over business earnings rages on. In the latest round, a California labor commissioner ruled Brandon had overcharged her by millions when he represented Kelly as her manager.

According to legal documents, obtained by TMZ, the commissioner ruled Brandon behaved improperly as a manager when he booked gigs and inked deals for Kelly on The Voice, Norwegian Cruise Line, Wayfair, and as host of the Billboard Music Awards. Aside from a few exceptions, only agents — not managers — can lawfully secure roles for talent.

Apparently, Brandon collects fees for booking the gigs. So, the labor commissioner ordered him to transfer those commissions–totaling $2,641,374–to Kelly.

According to TMZ, Brandon netted $1.98 million for commissions from her role on The Voice. By contrast, he only got $93.30 in commission for Kelly hosting the Billboard Music Awards.

Brandon plans to appeal the ruling.

Brandon will keep The Kelly Clarkson Show commision

Not every ruling turned out in Kelly’s favor. She also wanted the money Brandon got for landing her the gig on her successful talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. However, the labor commissioner disagreed. Brandon gets to keep the money from that deal.

Kelly filed for divorce back in 2020 after seven years of marriage, with the divorce becoming final in March 2022. The two battled over the Montana ranch. But in the ended, Kelly evicted her ex and she lives part time in it now with her kids.

For the settlement, Kelly had to pay Brandon $1.3 million and pays $45,000 a month in child support for their two kids, River Rose and Remy, ages 9 and 7 respectively. Brandon also gets $115,000 a month in spousal support, but that ends in January 2024.

Kelly, repped by her attorney Ed McPherson, got the family pets, multiple cars including a Ford Bronco, a Ford F-250, and a Porsche Cayenne, as well as a flight simulator, reports TMZ.
