It’s too bad Jordin Sparks didn’t make it to the semi-final round on The Masked Dancer. But, it is impressive that her masked character, Exotic Bird, made it further than every other contestant that wasn’t either a dancer or an athlete.
After the American Idol season 6 winner unmasked on this week’s Top 5 episode, she chatted in a post-show interview about her unique experience. She urges her celebrity friends to do the show “It’s fun!”
For Jordin, it was a big deal to ONCE AGAIN be judged by Paula Abdul, who sits on the panel alongside Ken Jeong, Ashley Tisdale and Brian Austin Green. It was a real full circle moment for the singer. “She knew me when I was 16 years old.” Jordin competed on American Idol way back in 2007, when she was only 17. Now, she is married and has a kid, and has come far in her music and acting career. She KNEW Paula was going to guess her. “I love Paula and always have.” She was thrilled when Paula said she was proud of her.
Jordin had never done choreography before–it intimidated her and made her nervous. But each week, she proved to herself that she could do it. “I loved being able to prove my own self wrong,” she says.
“When somebody hands me a microphone, I got it,” the singer says. “Choreography and set choreography isn’t something that’s super in my wheelhouse.” Her husband, Dana Isaiah, encouraged her to go for it, however, and she’s glad she did.
