Two new celebrities join the judges panel
The Voice season 23 judges include Chance the Rapper, Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan and Blake Shelton. Carson Daly hosts.
Kelly has returned to her big red chair after taking season 22 off. Chance and Niall are newbies, filling seats as veteran John Legend (who promises he’ll be back!) and one and maybe done pop star Camila Cabello exit. While Blake has been a steady presence on the panel since season 1, he’s leaving the show after season 23. He won season 22 with Bryce Leatherwood. Will he leave the show with a 10th win at the end of the season?
The Voice 23: The Vets vs The Newbies
A new promo sets up the season as the Vets vs the Newbies. In it, Niall wonders if he can beat Blake in his “final season.” Blake bluntly answers, “NO.” Chance throws out the obvious pun to Kelly “Do you think I have a CHANCE of beating you?” he adds, “I think my biggest competition is probably Kelly! But I’m-a still win though!”
“How do you feel about the new coaches, Blake,” Kelly asks her fellow vet. “Who are they again?” Blake quips. “Blake is not my dad. No offence to my dad,” Niall remarks.
“Kind of like the vets against the newbies,” Kelly says, as she and Blake push their rivals out of the camera shot. Niall ends the clip, “We’re going to have a lot of fun this year. “
It will also be the battle of the former singing show contestants. A former member of One Direction, Niall got his start on Simon Cowell’s X Factor UK in 2010. Of course, Kelly famously won the inaugural season o American Idol in 2002.
Chance is the first rapper sit on the judges panel. That will be different! And the tears will likely flow when Blake pushes his button for the very last time.
The ticket site describes the format as the typical: four stages of competition with the first being the Blind Auditions, followed by the Battle Rounds, Knockout Rounds and Live Performance shows. The season isn’t beginning until March 6. Looking at a calender, that’s an 11 week season.
Season 22 featured a whopping 56 contestants–14 on each team. With the shorter season, The Voice will probably go back to a total of 48 or 40 artists after the Blinds.
The Voice 23 Battle Round tickets – COVID-19 Policy
As far as tickets are concerned, COVID-19 protocols are still in place. Potential audience members must be full vaccinated OR present a negative PCR COVID test 48 hours before the show begins.
