Gabby Sings History Making “The Good Ones” on Late Late Show (Video)

Gabby Barrett dropped by the Late Late Show Thursday night (April 28) to perform her second No. 1 Country single, “The Good Ones.” Before her virtual performance, Gabby chatted with host James Corden about the joys of motherhood. Gabby and her husband, fellow American Idol season 16 alum Cade Foehner, had a baby girl Baylah May, earlier this year.

The song is a tribute to Cade, whom Gabby considers one of the “good ones.” She explained, “I wrote it with a group of friends in 2019 and it was inspired…by dating [Cade]. At the time, a lot of people in my family and close friends would [ask] oh, how’s your boyfriend?” She’d reply, “Oh he’s good, like he’s a good one, he’s a keeper.”  It was an a-ha moment for the singer. “That’s it. We need to write a song about the good ones,” she said at the time.

Currently the new song is sitting atop the Billboard country airplay chart for a 3rd week. “The Good Ones” is the first three-week leader by a woman since March 2011 with Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson’s “Don’t You Wanna Stay.”

“The Good Ones” first topped the Country Airplay chart dated April 17. It marks Gabby’s second career opening No. 1 after “I Hope” led for a week in April 2020. She’s the first woman to have two Country Airplay No. 1s in a row since Kelsea Ballerini did it with “Love Me Like You Mean It” in July 2015 and “Dibs” in March 2016.
