David Archuleta Breaks Free in Colorful “I’m Yours” Music Video

American Idol and The Masked Singer alum David Archuleta breaks free in colorful new “I’m Yours” music video.

David Archuleta’s upward spiral continues with the official release of his brand new music video for his latest single, “I’m Yours.”

“I’m Yours” is a song I wanted to get people dancing and smiling to. It’s all about letting yourself go and being happy with a feel good, summery vibe,” said the American Idol alum in a press statement. “It was fun working with video director Brad Hammer and his team because they were able to bring all the bright colors I wanted to life while making things light, fun and unique. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I had fun making it.”

In addition, David is set to perform at his first-ever Pride event this Sunday, July 16 in San Diego California alongside Saucy Santana and Princess Nokia. ”As this will be my first formal pride performance (outside of Utah’s Loveloud last year) I am looking forward to connecting with the community and learning about what pride events are like,” David added, “As this will also be my first time attending in a way outside of Loveloud, which is more catered to the Utah culture and community there.”

The clip is full of bright beautiful colors, from David dancing in a field of flowers, to posing inside a brightly lit orb in the middle of nowhere, to his bold and colorful wardrobe. The video is brimming with the joy David must feel being able to truly be himself. Watch the “I’m Yours” video below.

“I’m excited to share this new chapter and these new songs with everyone”

As far as his musical direction for the new era is concerned, David told Entertainment Weekly, “There are some really fun songs that are gonna get people dancing…that I’m really excited about. And there are still some classic ballads. I feel like these songs are more about love, something that I always shied away from before because it was something I didn’t relate to,” David continued, “I don’t think I ever really experienced love the way everyone talks about in songs and novels and all that. I’m talking about what it’s like for me to experience it for the first time really and fully. I’m excited to share that, in fun ways, dance ways, and also in ballad-y ways.”

“I’m excited to share this new chapter and these new songs with everyone,” said David. “The first ones will be out the beginning of summer, leading to a full album release later this year.”

David most recently released the upbeat and dancy single “Up.” “…it’s kind of like the prelude. It’s meant to tie where I’m coming from, my past, my history — but it’s also coming from a place where I was at the bottom of that, at the end of that path,” David described “Up” to EW.

David came out as queer in 2021

Only 17 years old, David Archuleta finished American Idol season 7 as the runner-up behind David Cook in 2008. His first single after the show, “Crush” sold more than 2 million digital copies to become double platinum. Three months later, his self-titled album, David Archuleta, sold more than 900,000 copies worldwide.

In 2021, David came out as queer to the LGBTQ community and continues to navigate his identity. During this time, he also had vocal cord surgery, which left him unable to speak much for 3 months, resulting in a period of self-reflection.

In the fall of 2022, David revealed to Good Morning America that he was experiencing a faith crisis and stepping away from the Church of Latter Day Saints, having been a Mormon his whole life.

David’s return to television, The Masked Singer saw the singer spread his wings as the Macaw, a bird known for its exuberant personality. An audience favorite, David came in second place, competing against singers such as Pentatonix and Bishop Briggs.

He also appeared on American Idol this season, where he mentored up and coming singers like he once was.
