The Voice star, Christina Grimmie performed a concert at the Plaza Live in Orlando Florida. She sang on stage in front of fans as she had every other night on her current tour to promote her latest EP, Side A.
Before Youtube and The Voice star, Christina Grimmie, was shot and killed last Friday night while signing autographs in Orlando, Florida, the singer performed a concert at the Plaza Live, along with pop band, Before You Exit. Here’s a snip from the concert of what’s being called her last performance.
Earlier in the day, Christina tweeted a short video inviting fans to attend the event. It’s unsettling to watch now.

Saturday morning, The Voice host Carson Daly called into the Today show to talk about Christina’s passing. “We’re all still in shock,” he told the Today show hosts, calling her an “incredible talent” and an “incredible person.” He continued, “This was a girl, and people say the phrase a lot…such a sweet person. Christina really was. She was special. She would walk into a room. She had an infectious laugh. She was determined. She was confident. But she was so incredibly sweet. You would never forget meeting her.”
Amazingly, the behind the scenes videos from the American Idol season 11 summer tour are still up on YouTube. The videos were my first introduction to Christina. A couple of years later, she would appear on The Voice season 6 as a contestant. I remember thinking “Oh, that’s the girl from the Idol summer tour!” Check out all the videos HERE.
Christina interviewed Colton Dixon and performed a duet with him.

Christina’s The Voice Blind Audition.
Blake Shelton was the last to hit his button, but Christina eventually got four turns after performing “Wrecking Ball” during her season 6 Blind Audition. Shakira and Usher were coaches that season. She eventually chose Adam Levine.

This is the live Voice performance that put Christina on the map. She finished the season in 3rd place, behind Jake Worthington and winner Josh Kaufman. Many, including myself, predicted that she would win.
Christina was only 22 years old. She had an entire lifetime ahead of her before her life was cut short, inexplicably, at the hands of a gunman. The singer came from a family of deep religious faith, which is hopefully giving them a measure of comfort as they endure senseless tragedy.
In the meantime, Christina’s manager, Brian Teefey (FYI: Selena Gomez’ stepfather) has started a GoFundMe page on behalf of the family. Click here.
