CeeLo Green made some REALLY stupid remarks on twitter over the weekend. In an attempt to defend himself against haters reacting to his plea of no contest to giving a female companion ecstasy, he insisted that a rape could only occur if the person was conscious.
He quickly deleted the tweets, but not before they were screengrabbed for posterity. The outrage was so long and so loud, that the ex-The Voice coach deactivated his twitter account. He also issued an apology of sorts, that included the usual “taken out of context” excuse.
Last night the singer reactivated his twitter account and immediately issued another non-apology for his misguided remarks:
I truly and deeply apologize for the comments attributed to me on Twitter. Those comments were idiotic, untrue and not what I believe.

Not what I believe? But you actually MADE the remarks. They weren’t “attributed” to you–you tweeted them. What, were you drunk? High on ecstasy? As far as non-apologies go, claiming that something you ACTUALLY SAID is not what you believe, ranks at the top of the WTF meter.
This song is my absolute truth! It’s all I ever wanted to be as an artist, man, and human being. I wholeheartedly… — CeeLo Green (@CeeLoGreen) September 3, 2014
After all that unpleasantness, let’s all hold hands and sing Kumbaya! MAYBE NOT CEELO.
….believe I was born with this purpose. I love everyone, Lo – Bridges http://t.co/bDpLXMVv6V

Damn. Listening to “Bridges,” the song he posted. CeeLo is such a talent–his inability to resist his baser instincts could eventually ruin his career. He’s no longer on The Voice, his TBS reality show, The Good Life, was cancelled after one season, and he hasn’t had a hit since “Forget You” in 2010. Downward career spiral has commenced, methinks.
