The new FOX reality series, UTOPIA will debut on Sunday, September 7 with a brand new theme recorded by American Idol season 5 alum, Chris Daughtry.

Watch Chris discuss how FOX approached him with the idea in an exclusive behind the scenes interview from The Hollywood Reporter. When considering the sound for the theme, Chris wanted a pop rock feel that dovetailed into the feel of his band’s latest album, Baptized.
I’m hearing a FULL version of the song will be released later this afternoon, so watch this space for that! If you love the tune, it will eventually be available for download it from iTunes. Daughtry’s long time producer, Howard Benson, produced the track.
“I’ve never seen a show like this,” Chris says of Utopia’s premise. ”People are thrown to the wolves with no resources and no leader, and it is going to be interesting to see who the natural leader is.”
Utopia is a new FOX reality show that follows a group of people, from all walks of life, sequestered on 5 acres of land with very little to work with. The leaderless “pioneers” are filmed 24/7 as they attempt to build a new society from scratch. The ambitious series is set to air for an entire year.
Although the premiere is days away, the feeds went live on Friday, and I’m hearing that so far, they are filled with fighting and drunken debauchery. There has already been a disqualification and a hospital visit!
