The 51st Annual CMA Awards were full of emotional moments, but none more so than the in memoriam segment, featuring CMA co-host, Carrie Underwood. The American Idol season 4 winner performed an exquisite and reverent version of the Christian hymn “Softly and Tenderly” as photos of members of the country music community who passed on in 2017 flashed across the screen.

But when the performance finished with black and white photos of the 58 country music fans who perished in Las Vegas last month at the hands of a crazed shooter? Well, watch the performance below, and I dare you to not shed a tear. I’m as cynical as they come, and I choked up. Carrie became so emotional by the end of the performance, her voice fell to a whisper.
