Camila Cabello Celebrates Fifth Harmony’s 10 Year Anniversary

Fifth Harmony Simon Cowell

When Camila Cabello left Fifth Harmony in 2016, there appeared to be hard feelings with the remaining members of the group. Over the years, Camila didn’t talk about her time in the group or her group mates.  But now, on the group’s 10th anniversary, Camila is looking back fondly.

The new The Voice coach posted a photo of the group, alongside a heartfelt caption that reads, “10 years since this f-g wild ride,” Camila writes. “Crazy to think when this picture was taken we barely knew each other and the journey we were about to go on would change our lives forever.”

In the photo, the quintet, during the X Factor USA season 2 judges houses rounds,  stands in front of Simon Cowell waiting to hear if they made it to the next round or not.

“I wanna remember the laughs and inside jokes and the pinch me I’m dreaming moments,” Camila’s message continued. “pls let’s all forget the times when I would do my own eyeliner thx.”

Camila ends the caption, “Much love and happiness to these ladies @fifthharmony and thx to the fans who had fun with us along the way x.” She did not tag her fellow group members individually.

After Camila left Fifth Harmony, the remaining four members, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui and Normani Kordei carried on, recording their self-titled third studio album, before going on “indefinite” hiatus in March 2018.

Camila’s fellow Fifth Harmony members didn’t respond, but a few X Factor alums left shoutouts

On X Factor USA in 2012, each of the singers auditioned as solo artists. But instead of leaving the competition, Simon assembled the five teen singers into a girl group. They finished the season in third place behind Carly Rose Sonenclar and winner Tate Stevens.  While members of the group did not comment on Camila’s post, she did get shoutouts from Carly, who wrote “A wild ride indeed…I miss ur eyeliner.” She was only 12 years old at the time. And fellow finalist Diamond White added, “Ah shiiiiit ITS BEEN TEN YEARS.”

After the show, Fifth Harmony signed to Syco/Epic Records, and released their first single “Miss Movin’ On” in 2013. The group dropped the EP Better Together later that year. Their debut studio album, Reflection came out in 2015 and featured the hits “Boss,” “Sledgehammer” and “Worth it.” The RIAA eventually certified the latter single 3x Platinum.

In 2016, the the quintet released “Work from Home,” the lead single from their sophomore set 7/27 (No explanation needed, right?). The song peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 making it the first top five single by a girl group in a decade on that chart.

And then, at the height of the group’s fame, Camila walked away, to earn plenty of fame and fortune as a solo artist. Camila has released three albums. Her self titled debut in 2018, Romance in 2019 and Familia in 2022. She scored No. 1 hits with “Havana” in 2017 and “Senorita” with Shawn Mendes, whom she dated for a time.

Currently, Camila is filming The Voice season 22, sitting on the coaches panel alongside John Legend, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton. The new season premiers on NBC Monday September 19.
