America’s Got Talent 2025 Final Auditions Recap Live Blog (Videos)
America’s Got Talent season 20 auditions end tonight (August 5) as Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara and the returning Mel B. take their seats on the panel. Terry Crews once again serves as host. At the end of the episode, the Top 44 competing in the Live Shows will be revealed.
The Golden Buzzers are back, but all ten buzzers (2 each for the judges and Terry) have been handed out.
The Osso Brothers – Hand Balancers
NBC previewed this audition earlier today. The teen brothers from Kazakhstan are sons of acrobat coaches. They hope they can get their hand balancing sport into the Olympics.
Hand balancing acts are usually muscled men and women dressed in work out wear or barely anything, demonstrating feats of strength. The duo aren’t obviously muscled and they perform in street clothes. Maybe not the greatest hand balancing act to appear on AGT, but they do perform a few hair raising tricks. That young boy gets tossed around so much, he’s in danger!
Mel calls them shocking and unexpected. Howie notes how young they are. Sofia calls it flawless and nerve wracking. Simon compares them to caterpillars who turn into beautiful butterflies by the end of the routine – 4 yeses
B Unique Crew – Dance group
NBC previewed this audition last week. B Unique Crew started after a member LEFT last week’s Golden Buzzer Unreal crew. The group aims to compete against Howie Mandel’s golden buzzer.
While Unreal displays precise and impressive synchronized dance moves, Unique mixes technology and magic tricks with bone breaking contortion and dance moves. At one point, it seems one of the dancers literally lost his head before dancing around.
Weirdly, Simon criticizes them, saying they need to go bigger. This, although the crew is unlike anything that’s been on AGT before. However, the rest of the panel is impressed. Howie wants to give them a Golden Buzzer so much, he turns to the producers to ask if he can break the rules. Probably, it’s a set up, with Simon playing the role of spoiler. Still, the judges say yes. No doubt, they’ll make the Top 44 expressly to set up a WWE type throw down in the lives. – 4 yeses
Matt O’Brien – Comedian
Montaged comedian has been at it for 20 years. He’s a comedian, just like Howie! He loves his fellow Canuck. Matt gets 4 yeses.
Julia Hladkowicz – Comedian
Julia is also a Canadian comedian and PLOT TWIST Matt is her husband. She admits that they are competing against each other. She’s going to get a full segment while her husband was cut short! She tells some drinking jokes “Most people drink to forget, I drink to remember.” Then she tells a bunch of husband jokes while he stands off stage!
Simon calls what she did “hard.” Simon thinks one of them secretly hopes the other doesn’t get a yes. Julia is appalled! Sofia thinks she’s as good at Matt, maybe even better. Mel loves her. Howie is impressed that she was willing to put her relationship on the line for AGT. (Well, not really) – 4 yeses
Church Friends – Music group
The little snip we hear sounds off key. They admit that AGT is the band’s first time in front of a big crowd. – 4 Nos

Fruit Punch – Silly Dance act
Four guys vamp it up on stage. Only Mel B was impressed – NO

Alex Blanchard – Dancer
18 year old contemporary dancer is from Liverpool, England. At first, I assumed she was a singer, but no. Interestingly, outside of big “crews” there has been very little dance on AGT this season. She’s the only solo dancer to audition, and she’s pretty great. Watching her is reminiscent of great dance competitions like So You Think You Can Dance and World of Dance.
Mel B calls her routing “brilliant.” Howie notes her energy and athleticism. Sofia calls the act “exciting.” Simon loves that she came so far by herself to audition. He calls her “brilliant.” – 4 yeses
Avalon Penrose – Singer
Avalon was a childhood opera singer. But at 14, she quit “dramatically” after suffering panic attacks. After 15 years, she’s back, fighting through her stage fright. She sings a tune no opera singer has ever performed on AGT before. PSYCH. Of course she sings Nessun Dorma. But oh boy. She sings while two guys cover her with confetti and paint. Mel B. hits her buzzer. I wonder if her story is even true? She insists it is! Turning opera performances into comedy is the only way she can do it.
Simon wants to hear another song, and he and Howie volunteer to throw stuff at her as she sings. Howie can’t bear to hit her face, so he throws a pie on her head. But then he turns around and targets Mel and Sofia. Here comes Simon with a pie… and ad break! Smash, right in Howie’s face. Oh look, the ladies have black shrouds conveniently handy! Howie nails Terry and then Terry gets Mel and Sofia. It ends in pandemonium. – 4 yeses
Now, it’s time to reveal the Top 44. AN ENTIRE HOUR DEVOTED TO THE REVEAL. Usually, NBC drops a press release after the final audition episode.
